Deuter in Europe is like Osprey in America. As I see, many mountaineers in Europe never heard about Osprey. I have several Deuter and Osprey backpacks, but quality is on Deuter side. It's hard to beat German build quality.

Amazing that you discovered Deuter backpacks, Chris! They are probably more common here in Europe. I've been using outdoor packs by Deuter for trekking and skiing and also everyday purposes for many years and they are known to be made really durable and always held up really well. Great little video, as always!

Can confirm the above, Had this bag for a number of years (older version) use it as my day to day, and day hiking/ even used it trail running and has been fantastic, up there with my osprey escapist but slightly harder wearing imo

I have the 12 l’iter version. It fits a 13 inch laptop. I like that is very sleek, low profile for urban settings, it looks less like a hiking backpack. At paragon sports in nyc they are often 20% off. The top compartment is great for keys, Waller etc. The issue is the 12 l does not have a waist strap. I purchased it for running, and the lack of waist strap is an issue for that. I have been considering the Osprey Daylite or Daylite plus. But if definitely looks more like a hiking/outdoors backpack. Maybe the Deuter is lighter. With the 20% off the Deuters are slightly cheaper than the Ospreys. I’d like to see a comparison between the 2 brands if you have a chance.

@@ChrisU at Paragon sports in NY osprey and deuter daypacks seem to be the competing options. The 20 l deuter looks very interesting, but too large for running. In the osprey you could put a water pouch outside the main compartment and a laptop inside (not that I'd need to carry them at the same time). The osprey looks like it has a more breathable back and waist strap on all sizes. But deuter is definitely sleeker looking, if you want to use it in an urban/work meeting context. I think for your videos it would be useful to use a scale to compare similar bag weights, possibility in grams rather than in lbs and ounces, easier math.
