Der aussprache ist langsam. Sehr helfreich für ausländern zu lernen Deutschen sprache. Ich mag diese serie Gern. Grüß aus Indische.

Fascinating to see how Germany has changed since 1985. It isn’t just re-unification and a different currency. Just look at that Autobahn. Not a Stau in sight, not even a heavy lorry. (Perhaps it was filmed on a Sunday.) You’d be lucky to be travelling on a German Autobahn today with so much distance between the vehicles. And when you stop at a Raststätte nowadays you are as likely to find the ubiquitous fast food outlets selling their junk food as much as outlets selling German food. The petrol choice was Normal or Super. No Bleifrei in those days. Something else you notice in the film is the absence of obviously foreign tourists. Nowadays they would be all over the place. One thing, however, that hasn’t changed: the cakes are still as good! Note that at 11.22 Hanni Vanhaiden says that she is on the A1 Autobahn. However, the next clip shows a road sign on the A27 Autobahn!

"volltanken" - this roughly means "to full tank", or "get the tank full." Correctly, it means "to fill up a gas tank." The mandate, "Volltanken!" means "Fill it up", or "Fill 'er up." This indicates that the gas attendant needs to set the gas so that the vehicle being filled with gas is filled up to the maximum amount possible in that vehicle's tank. "Normalbenzin" - since the chemical "benzine" is the active ingredient in gasoline, the Germans call gasoline "Benzin". (The English call gasoline "petrol" because gasoline is a petroleum product.) "Normalbenzin" - since "normal" means "regular or normal" in German, it means "regular gasoline."

"Abrakadabra" kommt aus Hebraisch "Habara kada bera" und bedeutet "Lass dies geschaffen werden, wie ich sage" :)

"Aladin und die Wunderlampe" - this means "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" (or "Wonder Lamp").

"Bitte nicht selbst tanken" - since I know some German keenly, and have been in Germany 2 times, I can tell you that this means "Please do not tank yourself." This is a safety rule with a double-entendre. 1. If you fill up the tank yourself, you could be exposing yourself to dangerous gasoline vapors. 2. If you top off the tank after filling it, you could cause gasoline to splash over your body and it will not feel nice at all.

7:23 - You heard the German word for mineral water, or "Mineralwasser." In Russian (another language besides German that I know), mineral water would be "minerallnayah vodah".

4:58 mark - You see the man asking the cashier for a map (or "Stadtplan") of Bremen, but the cashier said to him, "Das tut mir leid. Wir sind ausverkauft." This means "I am sorry, but we are fresh out of that (or "sold out") and currently not available at this time." The man leaves the cashier area in disgust. :( :( Schade fuer ihm.

That petrol station probably has no employees now. All self-service and paid by card or some other nebulous payment system.
