"Deutsches Mädel" [German Girl], is an optimistic song from 1941, composed for German women during the heavy, war period. It speaks about the happier times to come, peace, sun shining and them happily laughing again. Song originally had three strophes; all recorded. This is a rare example of a song "at a trot" and its only known recording (trot-marches were usually composed for cavalry = horses, and they were instrumental pieces). Niel also composed music for another Hans Bussmann's song, tango "Der Mond scheint in mein Kämmerlein" (1936).
