The movie was awesome, and I really, really loved the ending dancing. I just got back from vacation in Mumbai last week. The movie definitely captured the darker side of the city. Very cool clip, especially the dancing at the end.

Goa in India was a Portuguese colony for around 400 years. There are many Indian catholics there with very Portuguese names. A lot of them moved to neighbouring parts of India. My family's originally from there and my mother's maiden name is Pinto.

Their are PLENTY of movies shot and directed by Bollywood directors that are just as captivating and intelligent as "Slumdog". The reason this movie has done so well is not because of the Hollywood scripts, but because of the Hollywood MARKETING. The response to wide-release of Indian films has been very lackluster because of the absence of a well-known director or actor. This movie has gotten the recognition it deserves because it has Danny Boyle's name behind it.

i've heard Freida's interviews when she speaks in hindi (i think)...she sounds indian but whenever she speaks to western journalists, her accent MAGICALLY changes... hmmm, her accent is DEFINITELY western! come one, admit it...she forces the accent (its so obvious) I dont blame her, you cant even tell she's indian when shes speaking...sso for her, its mission accomplished

i can be a bit more accurate - Dev is south Asian who was born in Harrow, London. He goes to Whitmore high school (harrow)
