To fix this movie: say less with verbal dialogue, do more with characters' nonverbal behavior 1. invert first half/devara's story with second half/vara's story 2. show that devara dies in the past but don't show the face of the person who "killed" him...this poses the question: "Who killed Devara?" 3. don't show vara's true "face"/character in the present (masquerading as devara)....simply the shadowy apparition among the flames in the sea would have been apt, just cut the scene to him collapsing in front of the boat bleeding out...leaving the audience to scratch their heads thinking as to "who could that be?" "Did Devara really attack and kill Vara, but how could he if he is dead within the past?"
