Great video as usual by the WWHA video team, another poignant story of the Old West, about my favorite area, TEXAS! Love the setting, good job, Roy! Thanks Eddie, Pam, Roy and all who contributed!

I can feel the emotions in the voice of Roy Young as he tells this tragic story. He is one of the best researchers and genealogist I know, he'll find his Uncle Tommy, no doubt. Good job with the video WWHA. -Paul M.

The Settlers' War by Gregory Michno is a book I would recommend for anyone looking to gain a better understanding of life during this period. It includes several accounts like the one given by Roy Young in this video.....Thanks Roy.

Fascinating and tragic story, IS this story in Indian Depredations in Texas by JW Wilbarger?

Sad to say but at least half of the time stories like this are little more than happy horse sh-t. There were never "400 indians" in one place at one time ever on the prairie. Indians just didn't operate that way. 30\40 tribe's men would have been a lot for one raid

🤔 How would you know? You were NOT there.

@@01Lenda No, but My wife's second cousin Curley was!!! If you're unaware Curly was Custer's lead Crow scout. He sat in his lodge as an old man and told the story in first person to my father-in-law, and his father, who was also a scout during the time of Chief Joseph's attempt to flee to Canada. Indian Country on the Northern plains isn't that big of a community, and many of us know, or know of one another! Black Elk, Senti Gelesti, (Spotted Tail), Crow Dog, Ragged Robe, Dull Knife, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Man afraid of His horse, Horse Capture, Takes the gun Away, still have living relatives among these Northern tribes, and these as well as many other stories of that time have been handed down faithfully, and in tact, as is the Indian way.
