Back in the day we deacon them also weld in block guard do all the machining after last .I had the luxury of having a full machine shop at my disposal I will say deacon and block guard are comp different they both swell but devcon tends to adhere much better

I found when building a wet b20 build for street use. I went darton symees deck sleeves with a devcon 1/4 pour bottom it was very time consuming biggest positive is they still running today from what I been told I haven't been in the import seen for quite some time now I went back to muscle car builds good luck send it and don't look back I say that not knowing but assuming b20 crv blocks got to be getting hard to find buy now

By cleaning the block like that you are almost de-burring it. De-burring the edges helps reduce cracking. Saw that technique on HP tv. Ill look up the episode if ur interested. They de-burr the whole ls before the install power adders.

bmw inline 6 have very thin walls among cylinders so they after machining surfice warp heads in oven that center will be above sides so then head is torqued center will be pushed more to support more.

Next time try it like piping icing on a cake. Put both parts of the Devcon in a resealable plastic baggie, squish em around to mix it up, then cut off a corner and squeeze it straight into the block.

BTW Hunter! Just FYI my buddy and I biuld h22/g23s and if we Devon we put some in the bottom up to the port then suger then Devon on top....using a suringe(I know I didn't spell that right) but ya the f23 block under boost will crack at the bottom as well as the top. They still cool fine but just for ur info :D

@TheCitizenErazed6 жыл бұрын
Dylan White not only it adds weight, it also causes understeer on a light chassis like a civic, and as Chan mentionned H series gears are way too long so you have to spend another $800 for a H2B plate... Unless you gonna turbo it then thats about a lot more $$$...

Wouldn’t welding little blocks of metal in that space bet sufficient? Like little bars that sit in there. Then deck it. That way, you still have coolant flowing through the top. That’s how they do it with closed deck. Obviously not welding but the concept should be the same.

@Valdismith5 жыл бұрын
Ok, but how does the coolant make way into the wholes, how do you make sure they are all linked properly from the water source, if it comes from the water pump there? Any way, the cooling must be way worse compared to a huge space between the sleeves and the block walls, where plenty of water passes through. Is the idea that you run the car only 400mtr drag, and it won't overheat? I have heard of block filled with cement, but only on a dragster, so I guess being a drag car, you leave a minor cooling of the block, but enough for 400mtr, right?
@HunterTuned5 жыл бұрын
Smita runs same exact coolant temps as without it. Check out closed deck sleeved blocks they are setup the same way. They work fine
@Valdismith5 жыл бұрын
@@HunterTuned I see, that is why people fill them for power tuning to a high hp output, they need a stronger block. Does it still make difference for a high mileage designed engine? I mean why do manufacturers do it like that sometimes, having such a gap all around the cylinder sleeves and the block walls, do they think it will be a better and more even distributed temperature, as they design the car to be driven like 150-300K miles with proper maintenance? Most lilkely it offers some benefit to the engine to have it cooled like that, and even if it is minor, they do not see any downside in the strength, because they measure the reliability for the factory numbers. Filling the block like that is something I have heard of, but doesn't know much, so this is why I was asking. Thanks.

@HunterTuned6 жыл бұрын
At the end of the video I did state I will be drilling the holes. I am using this method because I feel the bond will be stronger without holes to seat everything. After everything is seated I will drill holes

I though maybe drilling the Devcon might make it crumble or crack? Straw method sounds like it's the way to go

@HunterTuned6 жыл бұрын
Thao Hmong Block gaurds do not have good tolerances and can stress uneven pressure amongst the sleeves. The devcon will apply more even pressure imo and forms better between the block and sleeves

this entire video is nothing but a "thats what she said" joke...LOL. I would definitely take this down time to go through the transmission, I cant remember what transmission is it you have? If it doesn't have a LSD maybe you could look into a cheap Phantom Grip LSD insert with some upgraded springs.
