I think you should stay still for a few seconds at the start of maps, especially if you add a 1 second fade-in. Also, I must be one of the very few who really hates starting each map with just a pistol despite doom maps being designed for pistol starts. Pistol starts are not fun for me at all, and would prefer to start maps with whatever I had upon finishing the previous map. If I had to play each map with pistol starts, I would not even play the game at all. I even grew up playing the original Doom back when it was released in 1993.

Or at least press ESC for a few seconds at the start (as I am well aware of multiple maps where enemies attack instantly upon starting).

i do the staying still for a few seconds when the start is devoid of enemies, tho sometimes im too annoyed to stand still because i may have died in a stupid way haha as for the pistol start, i understand that completely, i'm honestly just doing it for the sake of challenge, even if plutonia is already a quite difficult game
