Hey, thank you for making a video about this! A lot of creators are reluctant to cover the union’s movements in their content, it’s refreshing to see this broken down.

I'm guessing with the strikes next year's Chapter will be even small, maybe a couple of wayshrines and a crafting are with 5 quests? Actually, that was ZOS's plan for next year anyway.

All these lazy entitled people. Remote work does not work at all. It amazes me how many people just don't want to go in to work. And are shocked why companies let people go.
@IBeTehNinja2 ай бұрын
Game dev jobs in general are pretty competettive. In the case of "we told the qa people what changes we would like, but the qa people ignore it" makes sense for the company to outsource. In the case of "the company is outsourcing qa without telling us why, or giving us feedback/direction" then this is a pretty big issue for them

Kind of hard to feel bad for these people because a good chunk of the games Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision have been pumping out for years aren’t good. Plus, most modern devs will trash their current/potential customers for not buying/liking their products. Modern devs are also very lazy when it comes to optimization, compressing file sizes, and shipping a functioning product. I know the leadership are responsible for so much of what goes wrong, but so are the underlings.
@shreksnow19182 ай бұрын
Also, buy no means am I bootlicking a corporation buy saying the devs have a good chunk of the blame for what’s going on in their games. If I was I’d go out and buy all their overpriced slop that has basically no value. I feel bad for the talented/passionate people in those companies making subpar products. But, they’re drowned out by all the incompetent idiots with no passion who make trash.

I'm very pro union, but in certain cases unions tend to overstep their bound. I seriously doubt Microsoft would intentionally breech a contract knowing lawsuits, strikes would follow. With a union so small, what happens if Microsoft/whoever decides to move shop to another state or country then what? Ask me, unions/the ability to strike is a beautiful thing, but if done in haste can be counterproductive. They should work through this issue especially since the holiday season is approaching and the union doesnt have the upper hand being so small.

MS is a major corporation, and like all major corporations will do whatever they think they might be able to get away with. Strikes and lawsuits are just part of a cost/benefit analysis vs the projected return. If they think the return is sufficient and the likelihood of benefiting from the decision is high enough then they would absolutely intentionally breach a contract.

I was told that with union, a strike is not far behind, and it's so true. The more I learned about unions, the more I realized it's also not a good system either. Some people are just as bad with demands while being lazy as the companies that try to take advantage of you and exploit you.
@Sekiberius242 ай бұрын
You are very innocent and naive if you think one of the largest corporations in the world isn't above breaching contracts. Amazon does it it constantly, they make so much money that the legal costs don't really matter, they literally factor them into the budget.

@@Runehunter7 Your comment suggests you miss the point of Unions. The point of Union is to get better outcomes for their members from the employer. Unions don't exist to solve problems or create compromise, they exist so that workers can make demands. If an issue gets to a strike level and no work is getting done then it's very much on the Employer primarily for not engaging in negotiations, but rarely comes down to Union being stubborn. Companies need workers more than workers need companies. Work gets done when the workforce is incentivized to do the work.
@Runehunter72 ай бұрын
@smithynoir9980 But how is it all balanced? Isn't there still some negative outcome if people are emboldened to keep making demands? Are companies forced to shut down and everyone lose their jobs if demands aren't met? I believe people should definitely benefit from their employers and employers from their employees, but when does it become unbalanced, and how does one know? It seems like a chaotic system, but then again, I can't think of a better one, so maybe this is all that can be done.

Lol, game devs are about to get a reality check. With AI and advanced game dev tools a single developer is capable of making excellent games at a fraction of the cost. All your jobs are gone. What was it they said to the blue collar workers worried about automation? Learn to code.

They are a union so they may be employed for awhile longer. Union strong!
@pilotmorgan86692 ай бұрын
@510DeshawnPlays Never going to happen. Game development isn't an essential service that has any real impact on a single human. They have zero leverage. It's also an indy heavy market that will heavily out compete all these bloated companies within the next 5 years as these development tools continue to advance. Unions don't mean much when the entire company goes tits up.

They need to get Phil and anyone else who thinks ports to PS are good for the industry (they are not - and don't give me that "more players" crap unless you also go around saying it just as much in a push to get Sony and Nintendo to do di - which NO ONE ever does!). If ABK is bad, so is removing any edge you can have over the competition - funny how people whined about the first, said nothing and say nothing when Sony buys anyone or fires anyone, and says nothing of Xbox going more and more third party. Also, this push is based on the same reason you lay off tons of people and do the other things - line must go up for ever! If the head of Gaming cannot push back and make then all see gaming cannot ever work that way (its always going to be up and down), then remove him and get someone who gets it. Have the original leader of MS (Bill) push for it - he cannot possibly think most of what they are doing is good for the business and he apparently has tons of pull.

Sony is starting to put more and more of its first party games on PC when they always strictly kept them on console. Clearly the console walled garden model isn't working anymore. It's not just MS, both seem to realize that they need to reach a larger audience with their games than those who are buying their consoles. It seems like Nintendo is the only console manufacturer who can keep up the walled garden, but they have far and away the largest install base of the big 3.

Games being made available on more platforms and less exclusivity is always a good thing for players. You sound like you own an Xbox and for some reason are acting like your invested in Microsoft. You miss out on nothing by any game being ported to other platforms. Your arguing from a clearly fanboy "my console is best" position. Are you 10 years old? Quit you're whining.
