This is very cool, something similar made a long time ago was called Renegade64 it worked with a few different emulators. It was created by a cool hacker named Viper187. I think the sourcr code is about for Renegade 1.7. Maybe you could use that to help with making your program :)

does this allow access to internal memory banks in emulators through read/writing of the process memory?

Oh yes, almost all emulators suffer from "Horribly designed cheat-editor and debugger syndrome," one exception being No$GBA. But what No$GBA has in the debugger it lacks in the rendering department, most prominently seen in the Pokémon games. It's like instead of designers, programmers, who don't even use the features, design the UI of these horrible tools. ^^ Design rules #1 to Infinity: "The user knows best."
