DEVELOPMENT OF SURFACE
1. A hexagonal prism, edge of base 20 mm and axis 50 mm long, rests with its base on H.P such that one of its rectangular faces is parallel to V.P. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to V.P, inclined at 45 degree to H.P and passing through the right corner of the top face of the prism. Draw the sectional top view and develop the lateral surface of the truncated prism.

2. A vertical chimney of 70 cm diameter joins a roof sloping at 35o with horizontal. The shortest portion over the roof is 32 cm. Obtain the shape of the sheet metal which the chimney can be fabricated.

3. A pentagonal pyramid, side of base 30 mm and height 60 mm, stands with its base on H.P and an edge of the base is parallel to V.P. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to V.P, inclined at 40o to H.P and passing through a point on the axis, 32 mm above the base. Draw the sectional top view and develop the lateral surface of the truncated pyramid.

SECTION OF SOLIDS
1. A square prism, side of base 30 mm and axis 60 mm long, rests with its base on HP and one of its rectangular faces is inclined at 30° to VP. A section plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 60° to HP cuts the axis of the prism at a point 20 mm from its top end. Draw sectional top view and true shape of section.

2. A square pyramid of base 30 mm and axis 60 mm long is standing on HP with its base edges equally inclined to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 30° to HP, bisecting the axis. Draw the sectional top view and the true shape of the section, if the upper portion is removed.

3. A hexagonal pyramid, side of base 25 mm and axis 55 mm long, rests with its base on HP such that one of the edges of its base is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to HP, inclined at 45° to VP and passing through the pyramid at a distance of 10 mm from the axis. Draw the sectional front view and the true shape of section.

5. A square prism , side of base 40 mm and axis 60 mm long, rests with its base on HP such that one of its rectangular faces is inclined at 30° to VP. A section plane perpendicular to HP and inclined at 60° to VP passes through the prism such that a rectangular face which is making 60° with VP is cut into two halves. Draw the top view, sectional front view and true shape of the section.

6. A square prism , side of base 32 mm and 100 mm height is lying on its base on HP such that the edges of the base are equally inclined to VP. The prism is cut by a section plane passing through the midpoint of the axis such that the true shape of section is a rhombus of diagonals of 102 mm and 45 mm. Determine the inclination of the section plane with HP.
