Deven Verma - An Icon of Old Hindi Films

This video is about the biography of famous Bollywood comic actor Deven Verma who was born on 23 October 1937 in Kutch, Gujarat to Baldev Singh Verma and Sarala Devi and was brought up in Pune. Deven Verma married Rupa Ganguly, daughter of veteran Bollywood actor Ashok Kumar. Deven Verma made his Bollywood debut under BR Chopra's banner in the film Dharmputra (1961). Deven Verma acted his several films with his father in law, Ashok Kumar. Deven Verma produced a film called Yakeen (1961) and became director with the film Nadaan (1971) starring Asha Parekh & Navin Nischol. Deven Verma won Filmfare Best Comedian Award for films - Chori Mera Kaam, Chor Ke Ghar Chor and Angoor. Gulzar's film Angoor (1982) was a landmark film in the career of Deven Verma where he had a double role and acted along with Sanjeev Kumar who too had a double role. Deven Verma died on 2 December 2014 in Pune, following a heart attack.
