Hello from NYC! I'm just starting off with learning guitar (as in absolute beginner) and my goal is to be able to play a Devendra Banhart song in a few months' time-how did you get started? learnt the standard chords C,G,D, Aminor etc. found songs that i liked and could sing along to eg. this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaaYlq19lpmNrrs. and i initially started out playing folkish kind of music with a steel string guitar, eg. bob dylan songs etc. with simple chords and went from there
