@@asadwholesomememe2749 I watched both of the shows as well, and comparing devi and Ginny, anyone with common sense would chose devi. I’m not saying that devi is a angel and doesn’t do anything bad at all, devi spread a rumor or a assumption about anessa which happened to be true but she owned up to it. Ginny on the other hand was never supportive of her friend group, through out the first season it showed she constantly did many things just to fit in like smoking, drinking, having $ex, straightening her hair etc. Even when Georgia told Ginny that she was abu$ed as a kid, Ginny was still mad at her, in the episode where her dad sings for her on the stage it says that “which mother would keep her child away from their grandparents” even when Georgia told her which means that Ginny never gave a fuc!, she just wants to be right and always have attention. Ginny was rich and spoiled, she couldn’t even bare to take it when hunter won the contest when she should have and she fully blamed it on racism. In the episode where Abby calls everyone and tells them about their problem, Ginny says “Abby im really sorry but I have things going on too, its not always about you” Like wth it was never about Abby and for the first time she vented to her friends Ginny had to swoop and be really rude and disrespectful

Devi is probably the only character I've ever truly related to. Because she went too far multiple times, but still gets to be likeable and the good guy. I too did many things that I am not proud of (no, I did not date two guys at the same time) and got accused of thinking I was the center of the universe, because I was dealing with my trauma and sometimes, in very unhealthy manners, just like Devi. Yet through all of it, Devi still gets to be the protagonist of her own story, give people strenght to stand up for themselves, she's still considered someone special. That gave me a lot of comfort, Because if Devi could be that flawed and still be the hero, then maybe so can I.

She’s still problematic. having trauma doesn’t excuse that, but it does explain her behavior to some extent
@sarcasticsuperjerk182 жыл бұрын
Trauma doesn’t excuse the following: Telling your cousin who worked hard for her position and is clearly uncomfortable with an arranged marriage that life hands her everything on a silver platter Forcing her friend group to get boyfriends and also expressing the want to turn a gay man straight for her Attempting to reel her friend’s neglectful mother back into her life and stick herself in family drama for the sake of “maintaining friendships” Telling a Jewish man that he should’ve died in the Holocaust alongside the rest of the Jewish people Leaving her friend who was having a mental breakdown for sex with a guy she LIED about having sex with And last but not least… Cheating on the guy who took her in when she needed it, drove her to spread her father’s ashes, AND STAYED FOR IF SHE NEEDED COMFORT for a guy who’s just sexy. Devi’s the worst. There’s a certain line between “depressed kid” and “literal garbage human being” and Devi’s crossed both. REALLY hoping that she gets some development soon, the side characters having character arcs of their own are a saving grace for this show rn.

EXACTLY!!! The parallels between the 2 shows are extremely evident Josh - Paxton Greg - Ben Nathaniel - Des Paula - Eleanor Darryl - Fab Dr. Akopian - Dr. Ryan Valencia - Kamala Heather - Aneesa Naomi - Nalini And even with Rebecca+Devi’s characteristics they are eerily similar, the way they drop everything for a guy, as well as their “quirkiness” and intelligence+high-achieving qualities. Even with their Jewish / Indian cultures respectively they ultimately have trouble accepting 4 seasons too I would not be surprised if CXGF was an inspiration for the show.
