MARKO has said that this is a "love song", a poetic metaphorical love song of a man (Devil) and woman (Mermaid of the Deep Dark Ocean- the Oceanborn) where she does not return his love or seductions. ""I will die for the love of the mermaid, Her seduction, beauty and scorn. Welcome to the end of your life. Hail the Oceanborn!". In the end they break up "setting the dolphins free", their "song" is over but will carry on over the mountains and seas, "the eternity will begin once again in peace" they both move on.

This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘. Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!! Great. As far as another is concerned, just pick one you won’t be disappointed by them. I never have been. Even Anette, Slow Love Slow, Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2012,:is my favourite by her. Anette doesn’t have Floor’s range or Tarja operatic voice but in this song she shines. IMO. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺

The original studio version is one of my favourite songs from my - by far - overall favourite Nightwish-album "Oceanborn" (which is also one of my overall most-played albums). I'm most likely in a minority here, but I do prefer the original version with Tarja, because I really loved (and still love) her operatic vocals on that album - in spite of the fact that otherwise opera is absolutely not my cup of tea! One reason why I prefer the original version might also be that I got into Nightwish already when their debut came out ("Elvenpath" being my favourite on that one), thus I was used to Tarja's vocals right from the beginning and also the songs from "Oceanborn" with her on vocals are much more familiar to me. I'm not saying I dislike this version - saw it being performed live in 2018 myself -, but you can't argue with personal taste. I'm aware that Floor is a more versatile singer and Nightwish's current album might become my second favourite (so far it's been "Imaginaerum"), perhaps also because it sounds - at least to my ears - quite different from what they have done before, but "Oceanborn" will - at least for now - remain my favourite.

Love the reaction and love the play between Marco and Floor. Noise live from the Islander Arm is new and a great song. One of personal favorites is Sleeping Sun by Floor from Tempre or Tarja from Once in a lifetime. Glad to see you jumping back in Nightwish.
