I got that same exact model forge about a year ago. Very happy with mine. My only regret is I didn't get one years ago and skip the coal/brake drum thing entirely. Good video.

Kind of a random question, but I was wondering if I could ask you about the furnace. Would you be able to make small batches of charcoal by putting wood into a closed container with a couple vent holes for the steam/wood gases?

For the forge I used soft brick instead of wool. Then painted soft brick with rigidizer. Works good and looks much cleaner. For the smelting forge I just paid a little extra and got the cast version

Devil Forge makes high quality equipment. I have the same forge as shown here. Pro tip though...close both chokes when lighting the forge. It will prevent flame sputter and it'll also prevent the initial flame from blowing back up the burner tube and hitting the hose. That's the suggested lighting method from Devil Forge.
@JDOffline3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that. I also agree they are high quality. Thanks for the comment. JD

Awesome stuff mate👌 I have also got my devil-forge furnace and you can see it working on my channel. I live in Australia so I had no idea if I could get a furnace over here but when I found out devil-forge shipped to AU, I bought it straight away. Anyway, cool stuff👍👏

Thanks for the comment. So far it’s holding up well. I’ve used the forge a lot more and not sure how long the “ridgidizer” is going to hold up. It seems to want to flake off after several hot burns. But it’s holding up so far. I’ll check out your channel as well.

JD Offline yes, I have been having the same problems. The rigidizer on my furnace also wants to come off after many fire ups but I’m going to purchase a new batch of rigidizer and apply it again and I think that will help. Anyway happy casting👍🍺

Thank you for sharing. I have been trying to decide between the atlas forges and the devils forge (three burner). I want the option to normalize swords so will probably go with the devils now after watching your video. The Atlas seems better built but it is too small for my needs I am thinking.

I am very excited to say my DFPROF2+1D GAS PROPANE FORGE is in the FedEx truck but live in Texas and waiting is the worst. and these seem to be the best prices and reputable Lil forges to get.
@JDOffline4 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, yes you will really enjoy this forge. It does the job and works really well. Not so sure about the insulation and how safe that is even with the coating they give you (it tends to crack and fall apart with use). Get some extra propane tanks as well, you will go through some propane. Overall a great forge at a fair price. JD
@SuperGokuSon4 жыл бұрын
@@JDOffline yes I I have about 6 empty propane tanks I am going to get filled. And I want to look in to getting more of the stiffener or the coating and have it on hand to re paint the inside of it as it brakes away. Or ill end up replacing the insolation surfaces with ceramic tiles that will not chip away.

I just got a Devil Forge and used it for the first time yesterday. It was making a thumping noise, like it was a lawnmower engine. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas on how to fix it?
@JDOffline4 жыл бұрын
Not really sure, I know I had to play around with the adjustments at the top of the burners but that was fairly easy to dial in. Make sure your regulator is opened up enough. Another thing I noticed is that after a while your propane tank will get cold and make a noise that's not normal (maybe this is what you are experiencing?), you either have to switch tanks or let your tank warm back up (you will literally see the cold on the outside of the propane tank). Hope this helps and good luck. JD

Why can’t a foundry also be a forge or vice versa? I mean if you turn one on it’s side then it just become the other essentially right?
@JDOffline3 жыл бұрын
May be possible, but from using these two products, here's what I've learned. The burner on foundry is angled and the round shape allows for the flame/heat to travel around the crucible and heat all sides of it. The forge doesn't do that as the burners are mounted straight and the forge is square so not sure how well you'd be able to melt metal in a forge. Not saying it can't be done, just never tried it. Interesting idea, let us know if you try it and thanks for the comment. JD.
@seppukun2083 жыл бұрын
@@JDOffline I would think once you close the lid it wouldn’t really matter too much which way the nozzles are angled as everything inside would become heated. I think a forge has straight nozzles so you could control the heat better so perhaps I could make a nozzle that could pivot or come up with some other solution. It would be an interesting project. Great video 👍
