Going from dmc3 to now it is more of how a young person rebels. The rebellion was made with Dante' s physical demonic essence. In a young adult "rebelling" was acting the opposite of vergil. Even in younger twins the second child will act out. Not wanting to be a copy of his brother and his father. However, these acts form a dependency of identity.. Since your just trying not to be THEM. Even if it becomes "nobody tells me what to do! Not even me!" Which forms destructive habits.. getting into debt and addiction to pizza. He has defied who he was since then beginning who he wants to be defied as. This is the point where Dante finally decides on what he wants to be defined as, finally eliminating his past attachment and growing up. Dante has finally surpassed his father in power and position.

You know the sad part of this? Sparda giving that sword to Dante means he had a clear favorite between the two. The Yamato is powerful, but Rebellion being able to awaken Dante's true form is definitely better overall. Vergil only gained access to his own true devil trigger because his demon half ate that fruit before they recombined. Sparda, without knowing Vergil would one day become a power-crazed lunatic, had already fucked him over from the start.

Based on what I've noticed re-watching the cutscenes, the requirements to awaken sin DT are: Power boost + harmony between human and devil sides. Dante, already more human, embraced his devil side when he absorbed rebellion and got a power boost from absorbing Sparda. Vergil, at odds with his human side, split himself with Yamato. Once reunited with Urizen (devil side), they both realize they are one and the same, and that they share that one mutual feeling of defeating Dante. Vergil's human and devil side literally embrace one another to become a harmonized Vergil and with the boost from the Qliphoth fruit, awakens sin DT

At least we now know how Sparda also seperated his own power form himself and created the Devil Sword sparda (most likely by having the demon half that was created from splitting himself, kill itself so that its soul could form the Devil Sword Sparda) having the Rebellion as a backup in case he ever needed to have his power returned to him. Later on abandoning that idea and instead giving both swords to his sons, hoping that one day they would evenly distribute the power of the sparda sword among eachother. Instead Vergil killed thousands to get power equal to the Sparda sword, while Dante simply took the entire legacy for himself.

Nope thats his regular DT remember he can't DT in DMC4 and Most of DMC5 and he has yet to eat a magic demon fruit or absorb another one of Grandpa's Swords so thats just his regular DT, also both his Uncle and Dad were beating each other up senseless before he showed up to stop a potential Demonic Sibliside that can potentially freeze hell over 12 times.

I guess it's supposed to work on an emotional level. It's a magical sword after all. Dante getting randomly stabbed with Rebellion in DMC4 maybe isn't the same as him purposely stabbing himself with it in order to absorb its power. When he was stabbed by Vergil in DMC3 it awakened his powers for the first time, since he was suppressing them because he denied his demonic heritage at the time. While in here he realized the true purpose of the sword and absorbed it to gain the power he needed against Urizen. It makes sense given that Rebellion is meant to represent Dante's rebellious spirit both figuratively and literally too.

Further explanation Majin form was suppose to be an Easter egg as the form only happens at a health of 10% so canonically at least to the developers Majin form was not yet a possible move for Dante cerca DMC2 as the director stated that they wanted to use it in later titles.

Honestly, if Dante could’ve done this from the start, why didn’t he just stab himself with the broken Rebellion when he awoke? Why waste time to make a trip all the way to his family home? Nope, because Yamato separates man from devil, while rebellion combines man and devil. When Dante got stabbed with rebellion by Vergil the first time, his half man and his half demon were combined so he could activate the demon trigger. This time he had another demonic power with him, the Sparda, so rebellion fused the man (Dante) and the devil (the Sparda). So if Vergil had the Sparda and stabbed himself with Yamato he would just separate himself

No, I believe V already told Dante about Vergil separating into him and Urizen. That is why he always tells Nero to stay out of his fight and also drops hints throughout the game about this by subtlety referring to Urizen as him (Vergil's motivation). He obviosuly doesn't state it clearly to keep the player in the shadow.

This game introduced the fact Yamato can a Cambion into two beings (one man, the other demon). So I guess the idea here is that Rebellion has the opposite affect and binds anything demonic to whoever uses the sword for that purpose
