The ending of the game literally has Dante and Vergil fighting, meaning the rivalry will never end. They are no longer enemies, but they will always be rivals and will always fight each other, that is their nature both as brothers and devils.

No one's saying Dante and Vergill will stop fight each other, but one thing is to fight each other with the intent of killing each other, and a different thing is when you have a rival and you like fighting him because you both have a competitive spirit and that kind of thing With the ending the game (at least the vanilla DMC5, I haven't seen the new cutscenes for SE) is pretty clear Vergil is no longer a villain or that he will try to kill Dante again in the future. If that happened DMC5's ending would lose a lot of meaning, specially for Nero's character. Vergil is now basically Vegeta if Dante was Goku.

In nocturne tho, Dante's just a skin of Raidou with different animations and different names for moves sadly, and it's DMC2 Dante even more sadly (at least he has his DMC1 personality instead of his edgy broody DMC2 counterpart).
