That's almost impossible since Vergil blocks most ranged attacks when not attacking. Believe me,I tried and defeated Vergil with versatile using of GS,TS,and RG. GS and Ebony and Ivory alone won't be enough. You especialy need to use Dual Kalina Ann or go for a risky one with Dr. Faust to finish off Vergil quicker.

Using Royal Guard to defeat Vergil is quite fast and easy on lower difficulties. You can take of 1/5th of his health bar on human mode which is more faster than your sword swipes and dodging tactics can do. You should practice on lower difficulties first then move up to dmd.

Imagine training to use an extremely powerful demonic katana that can cut clean through solid stone statues... and then you fight a guy who just stands there mocking you. You go up and try to cut him, he just slaps the blade aside with his bare forearms. You throw magic spears to skewer him, he offhandedly backhands them like a baddie trying to sneak up on Batman. You can't do anything to hurt him, so you tap into your true potential and go into a super mode that increases your power exponentially... and then you find you STILL can't do ANYTHING. If I were Vergil I would have just given the fuck up and gone home at the two minute mark.

I swear, in DMC5, if anyone ever noticed, Dante IS the boss of the game, I know this is years later and yes I saw this when it first showed up in my recommended but... it still holds true till this day, I mean, if you even notice the difference between how they act in their Sin Devil Triggers, Vergil still holds that calm dangerous attitude you don't want to approach but then there is Dante... just casually floating in mid air... staring down at you... when he swings his sword not only is the power of the sword so intense that it gains reach just as far as the Sparda did against Mundus in DMC1, but it also projects clones of itself to multiply the damage, intensity and defensive ability of it. if he so wishes he can send a barrage of explosives after you that move at super high speeds and if thats not enough... he can summon a black hole on you to completely eviscerate an enemy, and launch much smaller ones covered in energy that detonate on impact.... meanwhile Vergil isn't showing off like Dante and has abilities that can still counter him but... lets be honest. Who looks like the real Boss here? Dante XDD
