Not only that, but some were edited or cut in or out at random, like the "we are ODST" or "Birth of a Spartan" being completely muted or extremely quiet for copyright. and the Halo Recon trailer starting with the rookie text from the first mission of ODST, then cutting to partway into the actual trailer, then just stopping again right before the title reveal. Whoever made this video he reacted to totally screwed the experience for him.

All the games are connected, the main 6 which focuses primarily of the Master Chief and the other spin off games that focus on the stories that happened in between his stories like Halo Reach which took place before the first game as a Prequel.

well, Halo ODST happened at the same time as Halo 2. actually, the very beginning of Halo 2, When chief is deployed on the planet after the scorpion segment, is when the start of ODST happen (technically.) although the rookie got hit by the blast of the covenant entering into hyperspace and basically got knocked unconscious.

As a person who played Halo a lot when younger and picked up DMC 4 when I was 12. You will love Halo. It's very atmospheric, epic and mysterious. Lots of lore and some what grounded in reality. Very fun gameplay and amazing ost, preferably one of my favourites in gaming. You can play them using Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This is how you would play them if you’re going by release date. 1. Halo: Combat Evolved 2. Halo 2 3. Halo 3 4. Halo: ODST 5. Halo: Reach 6. Halo 4 7. Halo 5 8. Halo: Infinite This game series is everything I love about games with a deep rich multimedia lore told through books, short films, games, and comics. If you want to get into the lore specifically you could read and watch all the Terminals in-game. All the terminals should be watched AFTER you finish the series excluding Halo 3 as all of the terminals that aren’t in Halo 3 were made after the initial release of the games and hold spoilers for the rest of the series. Don’t do infinite first, it will probably ruin your expectations for what the older games are like, I recommend doing it in order of release, you’ll gradually notice every little detail added with each game, then if you’re really into it, go from reach first, then continue till halo 2, play odst then continue in order after that for the story.

Halo history lesson: When it was first pitched Halo was supposed to be a real time strategy game for the original Xbox but they couldn’t make it compatible with the controller, so they instead made it a first person shooter while keeping the RTS elements. Now here that combination made Halo: Combat Evolved. A game that features big battles between human and alien factions that both had unique weapons, gadgets, and vehicles set in a sci-fi war opera with you on the ground in the thick of it, it was unprecedented at time especially on consoles and to say it took off was an understatement. It was so popular that when Halo 2 was announced it took over Times Square and even some of the popular rock bands at the time like breaking Benjamin and incubus made original songs just for it. Halo has fallen into a bit of a rough patch as of late, with a tv show made by people who want nothing to do with the games and books, and a frustrating free to play multiplayer game, but it still has a dedicated fan base and community so that has to say something about how much it impacted not just gaming but entertainment as a whole.

If I were to recommend just a few of the Halo games: In chronological order Halo Reach Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Halo 2 Anniversary Halo 3 ODST Halo 3 If you don’t have the time that is fine but I would also recommend checking out the Halo 2 Anniversary cut scenes. The animation and detail is incredible and remains to be some of the best media that Halo has ever had along side the Halo Wars 2 cutscenes.

It was mostly confusing due to all of the trailers being out of order and random but if you follow from the start they mostly tell a story but id suggest to have a buddy that is familiar with the franchise make a playlist for you to watch to help you follow along easier. (THE SHOW) It follows what the devs refer to as a "silver" timeline and so the whole series isn't really related to halo but they wanted creative freedom since some things would be to difficult to replicate via show. So if you watch it only take everything you see with a grain of salt. THOUGH I will say the nailed the realism for combat. might be slightly clunky but its pretty intense. show for me was like a 3/10 since I'm biased towards the real story line of halo just because i feel its much more compelling and interesting. Edit: Ive been playing halo since i could pick up a controller around 2000 and grew up on the game so ive been invested for over like 20+ years

Here is some lore and info: The Master Chief is a spartan II super soldier. Him and 74 other 6 year old children were kidnapped by ONI, Office of Naval Intelligence (Think CIA but more powerful and across many planets) to be indoctrinated, trained and augmented to be the most powerful soldiers ever created to help fight against insurrectionist groups, but eventually Humanity was attacked by The Covenant, A multi species alien military that wanted to wipe out humanity due to their religious beliefs humans were seen as heretics that needed to be destroyed. Halo 1-3 deal with the end of this war, the name halo refers to a huge ring like structure created by an ancient dead race of aliens that The Covenant think is a religious artifact that will ascend them to godhood, but it is infact a weapon. Halo reach is a prequel to halo 1, and deals with The Covenant invasion of the planet Reach the largest human colony second only to Earth itself. Halo wars are Real Time Strategy games instead of first person shooter games, First one takes place many years before Halo 1 and the second takes place after Halo 5. There are also two movies, Halo: Forward unto Dawn, Halo: Nightfall. Forward unto dawn is pretty good, Nightfall is pretty bad. There is also a TV Show that no one likes. And also an Anime Series called Halo Legends were each episode is its own independent story with a different art style. There is also many books, one of which Halo: The fall of reach, that was partially adapted into an animated story. I think that is everything.

Those part 1, and 2 "trailers" for Halo 3 were directed by Neil Blomkamp of District 9. It was originally supposed to be a movie but got canned, and he made those shorts with the leftovers from the movie.

Yeah the one that was muted gets muted a lot because of copyright claims. As far as I know, it's the only one that seems to get hit no matter who posts it and it's likely because of the music since Microsoft has issued a fair use policy for public domain. I wish whoever made this long video that you're watching would have at least put them in order so it made more sense to someone who's never played Halo. In short, Bungie was very pro live action for their trailers, 343 tried to keep that spirit going but ultimately found more use in animated/pre-rendered trailers. The trailer that was really long with the soldiers getting hit with large spikes was actually supposed to be a movie if I recall correctly. The producer at the time wanted to work on the movie but instead it ended up being that 2 part trailer. Seeing as there is more than 9 games now (including spin off titles like Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2, Halo: Reach, and Halo 3: ODST), the best way to understand things a bit better is to either play the games yourself or watch the cutscenes at the very least. But even then the universe of Halo is so incredibly vast considering there are more than 30 books and comics out there. Also yes, in the early days (Combat Evolved to 3) we fought a group called 'The Covenant', a collection of different alien species all wanting us (humanity) dead...for reasons. The big ape looking ones are Brutes, the ones that were invisible are Elites, there are also regular infantry such as Grunts and Jackals.

For reference, back during the original Halo 1 - 3 era, Halo was bigger than Call of Duty. Halo 2 was the best selling video game on the original Xbox (8 million copies to date), and then Halo 3 came and became the number one best selling video game of its year (2007) when it only released 2 months before the end of the year. To date Halo 3 has sold around 14 million copies. and was probably a big reason for why a lot of people owned an Xbox 360. It was massive. I think it was after Halo 3, when the original Modern Warfare 2 came out that COD took over as the top FPS franchise.

Halo was so big back then that it was synonymous with when you heard "Xbox." Halo 1 - 3 was just widly massive, each iteration somehow suprassing the previous game with flying colors, literally revolutionizing multiplayer, the trendsetter, etc. Every other game tried to call themselves "the Halo Killer" in all media adverts, but they ultimately failed. Everything tried to be or beat Halo. And this was during a time I wasn't even a fan of it yet, but it was everywhere. But nothing lasts forever. Up to Halo: Reach, the original creators, employees, deals, and priorities changed and it's not as big as it used to be.

I have a suggestion for a reaction, thats listening to songs (and maybe trailer/intros) from the Ace Combat series. they have some of the best OST tracks i've ever heard and not something you'd expect from a fighter jet game. Some of the tracks i recommend first are "Unsung War" from Ace Combat 5, "Zero" from Ace Combat Zero, "Liberation of Gracemaria" from Ace Combat 6, and "Daredevil" from Ace Combat 7. If you like those, each game does have some incredible trailers and intros.

I'd recommend a playthrough of if at least some of the games. A few channels gained substantial audiences during they're playthroughs, Deebeegeek, Original Human, and GamerJoob are some that come to mind. It's not just halo that gave them their fame of course, but their halo videos are some of the better performing ones, if not the first good performing ones. A lot of Halo fans branched out after 343i took over as they've been devisive at best and neglectful at worse. So when you bring a lot of content thirsty Halo fans in, you still stand to benefit from when you move on from Halo, as we've all gotten into other things. SCP, Half Life, Crysis, and a few more are some that I've personally gotten into. I'd also recommend the Battlefield 3, 4, and 1 campaigns. I quite enjoyed them at least.

I found it funny how many times your lack of knowledge didn't make you as hype as someone who knows the story haha. Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 are viewed as arguably the best trilogy of the series. Halo ODST and Halo Reach are both standalone stories that tie in within the events of the main story. Halo ODST is within the timeframe of Halo 2 and Halo Reach is set prior to Halo CE. Bungie also made Halo Wars which is its own independent story within the universe. These were all the main Halo games produced by the original studio for Halo, Bungie. 343 Studios, which was the smaller secondary studio under Bungie ended up taking over the IP when Bungie left the franchise. 343's Halo games are where much of the controversy and issues with Halo really start. 343's main additions to the franchise have been Halo 4, Halo 5, Halo MCC, Halo Wars 2, and Halo Infinite. Basically, 343 deviated from Bungie's Halo formula understandably so, but the changes were not well received within the community. Much of the massive player base that Bungie culminated fell away over the several subsequent launches of Halo games produced by 343. The story of Halo also took a big swing with the introduction of an entire new enemy and different story writing of characters. The overall tone of the story in 343 Halo games is just different than Bungie games. For many, including myself, the story choices were lackluster. Also, 343 in never truly follows the same "story" from game to game. Yes, they are all related canonically but they introduce characters and story choices that are very prominent in one game and then the next game they aren't any part of the story. So, in short, Halo is a fantastically rich universe with many books, movies, and games that all contribute to a masterfully built world. The Bungie storytelling is deep and the tone of their games I feel matches what is great about Halo. If you are interested in actually playing Halo then you should get the Halo MCC which 343 made that conveniently puts all the main Bungie Halo games in one place. If you buy Halo MCC you get access to the campaigns and multiplayer of Halo CE (Remastered), Halo 2 (Remastered), Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 4. Definitely recommend!

Yeah, there’s a timeline. Chronologically they go as follows - Halo Wars Halo Reach Halo Combat Evolved Halo 2 Halo 3: ODST Halo 3 Halo 4/ Halo 4: Spartan Ops Halo 5: Guardians Halo Wars 2 Halo Infinite There’s a few smaller mobile games and the like but they’re largely irrelevant. Of bigger interest is the expanded universe encompassing something like 30+ novels, a few live action and animated specials like Halo Legends and Forward Unto Dawn and a couple other odds and ends. Ignore the Paramount show. It’s bad, and they outright admitted to ignoring all of the games and novels when making it. 343 officially dubbed it a separate “Silver timeline”, ensuring it could not damage that set by the games and novels. It’s basically what Dragonball Evolution was to Toriyama’s work - a stain on the franchise.

@@jayroro7053 Halo Legends is pretty sick, like the other guy said- theyre short films with different stories/characters animated by different companies. An anthology like "The Animatrix". You may be a little lost watching them though if you havent played the first couple games. Still entertaining none the less

Worse story Halo 5 Worse multiplayer Halo 4 (technically its the first Halo game, but i dont count that one. Seeing as it predates online MP and therefore not designed for it.) Worse campaign gameplay Halo 2. Now with halo 2 its still a lot of fun, and more fun to play than a couple of other Halo games, but its the most broken. Still playable, but broken.
