we already had an idea about the time placement due to the calendar in nico’s van being placed in 2015. that means dmc3 took place in 1991, dmc in 2000, dmc4 in 2010, dmc5 in 2015. dante was confirmed 19 in dmc3 so he would have been born in 1972.

If you mean the shot of the swords, I’m pretty sure it’s an aesthetic reference to Unlimited Blade Works (FSN). Archer = Dante has been a joke for ages and Studio Mir enjoys their crossover references

I get the feeling that the plot will involve a demon hunting organization trying to drag Dante to work for them directly in combat with demonic forces (hence why at one point we see him fight those guys I assumed were mercs, but more than likely they are one of the teams working for the organization). With the different bosses from the games serving as episodic villains. Lady already works for them and during the series her and Dante get to interact and likely Dante will influence her to go beyond the organization, eventually gaining equipment that's more fitting to Lady as a person, as opposed to the organization of hunters.

So far, I'm digging this opening. The lighting, setting, cut ins, and everything, it all fits a Devil May Cry opening set during the events prior to and during DMC3. What's truly got me excited, though, are all the references to future titles. More specifically, the references to DMC 2, 4, and 5. Not only does this give hope that we'll see the entire series animated, but it also hints that they plan to expand on the story in ways they previously couldn't and are now able to. When I learned about DMC2 and all the content hidden in obscure untranslated novels and stuff, I was really floored by how much potential there was if they simply gave DMC2 the remake treatment. Going into magic used by humans, exploring the origins of the Ouroboros company and how big of an influence they have, having it, and the events of DMC 2 tie into the overall story more compared to now, where it was so unimportant that it was basically a cameo in the recap in DMC 5, and most importantly, expand on Lucia, who has the most potential, I feel. From the moment I first saw her design, I fell in love with it, and I really look forward to it being remade for this series. Her story has a lot of potential, exploring the story of another human/demon hybrid that's not a descendent of Sparda, and it would be nice to see Dante end up with Someone. I initially wanted Lady to end up with Dante, but any potential of that happening seems to have been cast aside when DMC 4 came out, and we know from Devil May Cry 5 before the darkness that she's realized that she loves Dante by that point, and since it would be kinda awkward to see Dante with the woman directly modeled after his mother just to screw with him, and they don't seem to see each other like that anyway, she's the best candidate for Dante. Speaking of romance, we can all agree that one of the biggest hopes that all fans have for this show, outside of it being faithful to the gameplay and story of the originals and that it'll expand on the background and world lore, is that we'll grt a spot of Nero's mother, and get an idea of how exactly she ended up netting someone like Vergil, and why she ultimately abandoned him at an orphanage in Fortuna. Expanding on Nero's backstory would also be nice. I also really want them to explore more into magic used by humans like Arius and the protector clan that worked with Sparda to seal away Argosax. I look forward to seeing how this plays out. Considering who's making this show and the scenes we just saw, I'm reasonably confident that at least the fight scenes won't disappoint us and live up to the legacy that DMC has left behind. My biggest hope and interest lies in how they'll expand on Dante's backstory and his day to day life. We already got a good glimspe from the older anime on how Dante lives his life in between the mainline games, and I really want to see more of that. More specifically, I hope that this first season covers the events of the first prequel novel and prequel manga, showing us his time with Nell Goldstein, Grue, and finally his confrontation with Gilver, while mixing those events with the events of the DMC 3 prequel manga, ending just before the events of DMC 3, which will be the second season. I think they can safely pull this off without running into any of the mistakes they made with Nocturne.

Arguably nowadays Lady feels more like Dante's best friend from the office and Trish hilariously feels like if Dante had an actual sister that took heavily after his mother in terms of her looks. All supplementary stuff considered Lucia really feels like a more plausible choice and the only that actually was directly portrayed as being romantically interested in Dante (just very shy about it).

Ik a lot of references are from the dmc 3 manga, but I haven't read them yet. Wish I could buy them but they're so expensive in the aftermarket. My theory is that this will kinda cover the prequel manga that Lady was supposed to get, but was cancelled. Because, let's be real, we never really got an explanation for Lady being able to use her weapons like she does. We never question it because it's DMC, but even Dante and Vergil had training when they were kids. So my assumption is, since this anime seems to be drawing HEAVILY from the DMC3 Vergil and Dange mangas, this is going to cover Lady's probable ties to an organization of demon hunters that most likely would've been covered in the cancelled manga.

Key Notes: #1. There is a big emphasis on technology which is weird. I haven't played all the games but the ones I played are more into fantasy. This could be their own invention or they could be burrowing ideas from the reboot. I hope it's the reboot thing. #2. Vergil isn't shown much so his role might not be that significant. #3. It seems Dante will fight a lot more humans than was seen in the teaser trailer and for whatever reason these humans would be a recurring antagonistic force. I LOVE THIS. Always wanted to see some more devil hunters besides the ones we already know about. And that's about it. Looking forward to this show.

I think Lady's design can, if this is where they're going with it, be justified by explaining more of her backstory. Because sure, we got a lot her stuff relating to her parents and ancestor, but we never really got a good explanation for how she learned to use her weapons so effectively, or really her life before DMC3 other than the fact her mother loved her. We were supposed to get that in a manga, but it was cancelled. And judging by how this is heavily based on DMC3's Dante and Vergil mangas, this could very well be her backstory that her manga was supposed to give. Showing her backstory and why she's able to use these weapons, because she was most likely part of a bigger organization before going rogue right before DMC3. pure theory though

Honestly, weird music choice, considering that the franchise is known for soundtrack that incorporates both electronic and metal-ish (i don't care for the genres) influences in it. Hell, even No Redemption from DmC, without ANY adjustments aside from skipping a bit in the start, matches the energy of the opening better, I think. It is heavier, has high enough tempo and generally just feels more badass.
