Brother I will give you a remedy. Find your favourite reciter of Quran (mine is Minshawi in maqaam Nahawand). Listen to the recitation, find those portions (may take a few weeks) which impact and move the heart. Next stage listen to these portions, repeated over and over again, hours a day, till the tears start streaming. This will undo the damage that music had done to the heart, and soon, insha Allah, after a year or two the heart will no longer desire music. This is a treatment I came upon by accidentally and I no longer listen to music with intent for a decade now. The Quran is a cure.

As a young adult who lived in North America most of his life, I watched this video for the first time a few years ago. It opened my eyes to not only the influence of the media on the world but also how almost each of these things effected me in a negative way from the age of 10 onwards. I am 26 now and have learned to be more wary of these things. im a new revert alhamdelillah. i used to play video games a lot, listen to music, smoke weed..... let me tell you it might feel good in the moment but at the end of the day, you feel empty and you feel depressed. I love this lecture because he hits everything spot on. When I have children insh a Allah i won't allow tv/violent games, However it is very important as Muslims to have good fun safe alternatives, otherwise the kids will end up going to all of this bad stuff.

The moment I started remembering my dreams the morning after I realized all the junk my mind was being fed, most of it even passively just passing by TVs, random jingles, ads, and images. Some of the dreams are so sick and frightening, it’s scary to imagine it’s coming out your own subconscious. I had this disgusting dream that a yellow cat with no arms and legs was going door to door to seek shelter and I kept closing each door and saying no to it every time it was such a sick dream full of ugly sights of dismemberment and disgust I have no idea how I can even have dreams like that. I definitely have less dreams like that once you pay more attention, seek protection, and limit yourself to content like this. But it’s hard work! Definitely.

The problem with TV and social media etc. is that it is so time consuming and a total distraction from reaching a spiritual state. From reaching a closeness to Allah. People don’t sit and just ponder anymore. People don’t wonder anymore. Just by observing people who watch TV or on their phones one can easily see how distracted they are. They won’t even here you, when you call them. The ”black box” pulls you in and it literally grabs and holds you like a devil. What happened to our society is a shame. We’re loosing every aspect that makes us human. Humans are not supposed to be antisocial beings who are on their phones all day. Doing nothing but staring on a black screen. Becoming nothing in life...

Can’t believe how accurate you are about the shaythans methodology. The same kind of revolution is currently being introduced in India, there’s currently a new trend of introducing elements like pornography and drugs. However the sad part is that these are Muslim actors and directors who endorse such representation. They claim their intention was only to portray reality to the public, however little do they know that this “reality" is not the one that the majority (altleast currently) is exposed to. I can foresee how India would slowly follow the paths of the western world and develop along a similar tangent, while I do agree that there are lot of good people out there doing good things, this doom ultimately inevitable. It’s not totally impossible to imagine akhira being closer to us than ever...

I feel India is a unique situation. As there are extremely conservative elements like the caste system still remaining in the remote parts of the country. I feel the new generation of India especially Hindus and conservative Muslims are going to follow the path of West and neglect their parents and due to this there is going to be a big generation gap, but there are still some far right groups like RSS are also influencing the youth and specifically the jobless low to middle class with low education. Using false nationalism and religion as a tool for violence. India is caught between two extremes and this is going to lead to tensions and the worst case scenario is civil war. Best case scenario people wake up and understand their political climate and deal with accordingly.

@@syedzaid5771 i think you are right, as seen in the Arab world, the political unrest eventually led to the Arab spring. later the new generation of Arabs ( not all) resort to abandoning religion and adopting a "liberal" "secular" view of the world eventually leading to westernization. India does have potential to develop along such a tangent. However i feel a revolution is far fetched as the mindless mobs are driven by their leaders and the educated classes will simply continue to enjoy their stability, so i guess we could say that a large portion of India has already adopted western culture without necessarily revolting religion. However this adoption, as sh Hamza yusuf stated, can essentially lead to distortion or even abandonment of religion.

@@syedzaid5771 damn i think we effectively summed up the case in India :) However it is sad to see that the new generation is deceived by the facade of this world portrayed by social media. unfortunately only a few people will go out of their way to truly explore what that isn't explicitly evident (God), people like to live in their comfortable bubbles and avoid these troubling questions. they deceive themselves into believing happiness is the ultimate truth and live like sheep obeying whatever that music or social media dictates them to do in order to blend in with society. Whenever these hard hitting questions arrive (about existence) they simply make a mockery about it (show arrogance) and continue to live in their bubbles ( which will only pop once they are on their death beds lying helpless). And of course Allah says that he provides help ( gives guidance) to those that struggle. These people do not search for answers, they live conceitful lives smothered in disregard even when someone tries to help them. How can we expect such people to receive guidance... However Allah is the only one who knows, who will or will not enter jannah.

Solitude is an amazing gift for humans beings. Solitude is an amazing opportunity for people to reflect on themselves and the environment around them. Some times at home when I am with family or friends, even when we are not talking just living amongst each other, I would feel like I can't really think because I am sometimes too conscious of others around me. So for me personally, there is a great benefit to solitude. Many messengers, or even philosophers and scientists of all sorts etc. have received or discovered enlightening knowledge whilst in a time of solitude.

My position, my understanding concerning music is, whatever The Creator has deemed haraam is clearly pointed out in HIS Qur'an!!! Therefore it matters NOT what others may intuit, if The Creator did not say a thing is haraam, then it is halal, PERIOD!!!

You need to provide proof that all music causes the things you've mentioned, but you have not. You just made a baseless claim. Unless you want to make yourself deaf on purpose or you are deaf, music is unavoidable as it is as much part of nature as it is part of human civilization.

My point was sinning will lead you onto other sins especially when you see nothing wrong with sinn your committing🤦‍♂️here in the Uk we have a popular genre called "drill" which is basically just talks about shootings, stabbings, killing, selling drugs etc and you think if a person is listening to that 24/7 they won't be influenced?

​@@yakz9885 Except there's not a single verse in the Qur'an that states music is forbidden. Heck, the word 'music' does not even appear in the Qur'an. Also, pretty much every hadith I've seen mentioning music to be forbidden or discouraged, is weak and cannot be linked back to the prophet himself. Also, unless something is first mentioned in the Qur'an, one doesn't need to refer to the hadith about something not mentioned in the Qur'an first. Otherwise, it begs the question why the Qur'an wouldn't mention it in the first place. Also, just because certain genre of music is haraam, that involves profanity, doesn't mean all music is haraam. That's like saying all poetry is haraam because some poetry have profanity in them. Heck, it's even akin to saying speaking is haraam altogether since speech has bad words in it. Your example says nothing about music as a whole, but specific music with bad words.
