"The cooler Rakna-kadaki." Do love how the gimmick to this one is to actually clear up the babies, since the little ones will wander about and act as extra bombs at her command. Ignore them, and suddenly the area is littered with skittering little minelets. And with the recolor and devil horns... she honestly looks so much more sinister. (And I am also quietly happy that the babies survive the detonations.)

@@larsbohmer6319 All three are listed as Sub-Species in the games and official material. They're just old Sub-Species, which rarely ever changed the elements of the monsters - that was basically a third generation invention. Black Diablos SHOULD be a Variant, considering the in-game definition and the fact that it is just a normal Diablos genetically, but undergoing a change, but it was invented before Variants were, so... The improper classification stuck. There were zero Variants in the first generation. But, yeah, given modern conventions, Pyre should probably have been classified as a Variant. Or swap out the fire for thunder to have it detonate the explosives with - like lots of modern explosives - especially considering it lives in a habitat with both ambient fire and lots of other fire monsters, so those things should be getting detonated accidentally all the time. Also, it has a model change, with the addition of the two silly little tiny horns on the head, and model changes are usually reserved for Variants as well.

Definitely prefer this subspecies to the original. There's just something to the design and fight I prefer that I can't quite put my finger on. (also I love the devil horns on the head which is a nice touch)

Maybe because the blast ailment feels like a more subtle change for a subspecies rather than giving them entirely different elements like Glacial Agnaktor or Sand Barioth. Don't get me wrong I love both, but I like having a rather "basic" subspecies once in a while too. Not in a gen 2 kind of way where it's mostly just a palette swap with additional health but you get what I mean. Atop of that, the "blast" part being emphasized by her using the spider webs connected to the Pyrantulas like a dynamite fuse just makes sense as a concept.

I was really impressed by how well Pyra Rakna-Kadaki coordinated the Pyrantulas. Her turning her head around and backing up was surprisingly intimidating. Her design is really cool too. Of the subspecies of the rise monsters, Pyra Rakna-Kadaki is my second favorite. Magma Almudron is my favorite of them.

well Aurora Somnacanth is very Yuki-onna like so Pyre-Rakna being Onryo themed wouldn't be too much of a stretch, the black webbing looks like the long hair you tend to imagine with vengeful spirits (the classic white-dress/black-hair look) along with the backwards-head turn charge, and ghosts are well know for possessing and manipulating others which fits with how she uses her rachnoids.

i absolutely love this subspecies, sure it's fire again but the ways it's used are awesome. would have been cool if it was thunder along the webs like an electrical current passing through wires but i very much like the dynomite fuse style thing she's got going. yep, they are overdoing it a bit with the fire but MH has always done that. yes, that trope wasn't used in all of them since, but it actually started in 3 with lagiacrus getting blamed for ceadeus' shenanigans.

I love how Pyre Kadaki loooks. And I really like how the armor looks. But as a Monster itself Pyre Rakna Kadaki does feel a bit unnecessary. Normal Rakna but more fire would've been totally fine if it wasn't for the two other Fiery Subspecies in Sunbreak. Would've rather had another Thunder, Water or a Para/Sleep based subspecies.

It’s not necessarily bad to have a subspecies with the same element, as long the subspecies amp up their already existing element to make their fights engaging. A good example is seething Bazel. Pyre Rakna incorporating blast in her webs and attacks is a good concept. However, the issue with pyre is she doesn’t do any of that or barley does it to really make a difference. She kinda got the shrieking Legiana treatment, where she really feels the same as the regular version.

@@WetTowel69 Usually male spiders are a lot smaller than female spiders. The female is significantly bigger than the male in most spider species. The golden silk spider is a good example: The female is approximately six times longer than the male - 3 inches long compared to his 1/2 inch. Other species with larger females than males are the black widow spider and the daring jumping spider. Rachnoids seem to be a mix of jumping spiders and ticks.

Kinship idea for the kadakis for monster hunter stories 3: Rakna kadaki: shoots tons of webbing, webbing up the foe, creeping over, you get it in a first person view from the monsters perspective. As the head leans over opening jaws, eyes shine, and babies leap over, shooting flames. Pyre rakna kadaki: a similar one, only insteae, the pyraknies all make sparking noises, and you see mama mandibles chatter almost like laughter, before exploding.

Pyre-Kadaki unironically freaked me the hell out when I first fought her. And I'm not even aracnophobic, either. Her black and red webs and her bone-white exoskeleton put together made the exoskeleton look like dead-pale skin and the webs more like *HAIR* (the devil horns poking out didn't help). Her neck-snap backwards charge really did not help in the slightest. That one caught me so off guard when I first saw it. The moment I saw the devil horns, I knew she was the devil stand-in, but those horns combined with everything else reminded me of that spider queen boss from Okami and the girl from The Ring. As if Pyre-Kadaki isn't a REAL spider, but a lady twisted and transformed INTO a spider monster. UPDATE: After the final boss, I realized that I jumped to conclusions a bit too quickly on her being the devil stand-in. She's more of an imp.

I do love pyre but she was kind of a let down to me. Not because her fight was boring, but more just because it felt like a missed opportunity. We already got 2 fire subspecies, and Rakna already used fire, so I was kinda hoping for something more. Like an electric rakna kadaki that had conductive webs. It could’ve kept the devil horns and used them as conductors to stab at you and shock you. Either that or just the male version of rakna. A smaller, frailer, but much more aggressive and agile counterpart. That being said, pyre is still very fun and the web fuse concept is pretty cool to watch

In essence, it is just a physically superior brachydios that is dialed up to 11 with the added feature of immediate slime detonation upon contact. Granted, I do appreciate the detail of him being practically immortal due to the potential regenerative properties of the immortal reactor.

I actually know what the machine at the start is, it was basically a one man submarine that was built with the idea that it would plant bombs on the bottom of battle ships. It ended up not working though, I am surprised that capcom knew about it and put it in the game

To clarify the rakna phase swap trigger is whenever you break two leg webbings she gets KOd for a little and then will re web after. Then if you break the webbed abdomen she re webs her legs or just eventually re webs her legs if you don't break the abdomen.

the trigger for the sac change is the same as regular Rakna you need to brake 2 legs minimum and it will transition.
