the aesthetic comes from the highhat throughout the song, giving it that "dirty south" groove the 36mafia started to play around with, along side the aggressive yet perfectly time rhythmic flow of the lyrics. Almost all patterns these dudes flow appeals to the unbiased mass

To me the trio is the perfecr group. Im so glad theres still good music being made in the underground. Yeah im a lil older and their shit reminds me of the shit I grew up bumping. All that old devil shit from Triple 6, every artist in the Prophet Posse label up to Hypnotic Minds, fucking Brother Lynch Hung, Esham, Gangsta Pat, Tommy Wright III, 8 ball & MJG, UGK, Master P and the 504 Boyz, Ghetto Boyz, The Convicts, Rappn' Fortay, I could go on and on. This song in particular gives me a HoK House of Krazees sort of vibe. That was old School Twizted when they were really underground Jamie Madrox and Monoxide rapping with The R.O.C. Yeah my taste fluctuated throughout the 90s and 00s. Lost faith with new rap until around 2014 when i realized there's a resurgence of that same sound I grew up listening too. Yeah I feel old but not at heart. I dgaf but im still listening to all that shit i listened to when i was a kid and teen. Its cool hearing these new artist sample songs I bumped hard back in the day. Baker for example in his solo Phonk albums sampled. Well pretty much remixed an old Triple 6 Underground Tape. It was the Bitches Tryna Run Game off the i believe DJ Paul solo tape? Man I used to bump that song in my 300zxTT back in the summer of 02-03, whenever my girl use to piss me off. Light up a blunt and be like fuck that bitch. That song helped everytime! Anyways all three of the artist in the trio have mad talent. I love their style the most out of all the current underground artist. Ramirez comes in 2nd. Im into older $B too but their new shit is garbage. They ripped alot of 36 off though. Just being lazy and sampling whole songs only slightly changing up the beat. Dont get me wrong they still have some great songs. Bones im really into his shit. Hes original like the Trio as in no one sounds like them. I discovered Bones by accident late 2015. From my love of Black Metal of all things. Thats really what opened my eyes to this new generation of underground rap. Had no clue there was younger fools into the shit i grew up with. Im sort of caught up in between the original generation that was in their prime when all that fresh shit was coming out. Then again im not as I was a lil kid back then. I always hung out with teens 10 yrs older than me. So I was exposed to a lot of that shit. Mainly UGK, Ghetto Boys since Im from TX. Then in 97 the H-Town movement blew tf up. I was also into Bone Thugz but as I was flipping thru my moms Bfs cds I discovered 36 Mafia Chpt 1 The End and Chpt 2 World Domination. My life changed from that point onward. I was obssessed with all things Triple 6. I got every album they made as well as other artist in their labels. Most of my friends didnt discover 36 until 2000 when they officially blew up with When the Smoke Clears and Project Pats Mista Dont Play. Around my senior yr of highschool was when i discovered that 36 had a plethora of underground tapes. I was 18 then in 2002 so i was working and hustling. I had money to track down these underground tapes. There used to be a seller on ebay that sold every damn underground tape that came out of Memphis from 1990-1996 and burn them on cd. They werent expensive maybe 2-5 per cd. But i copped every DJ Paul and Juicy J tape. The DJ Paul and Lord Infamous tapes. There was literally over 50 tapes to choose from. I soon discovered DJ Zirk the DJ that originated all the shit triple 6 some could stay stole from. There was just so much shit to choose from. Everyone was bumping 50 cent, T.I. or whatever was popular around that time. Then here I was obsseseed with underground Memphis Phonk from the early to mid 90s. The quality wasnt the best since it came from cassette tape. But the shit was so unique and dark. I still bumped their new shit up until Most Known Unknowns. But something about that period of Memphis rap. Fast forward to 2016 ive already been listening to Bones and $B. I was surprised abd excited there was a revival of sorts of ppl interested in the same shit I am. Back in 02 when i was 18 you were hard pressed to find anyone into the same shit i was. Now days theres more lf a platform and of course rhe internet makes it easier than ever before. Here I am 18 yrs later at 36 still bumping that shit. Now days I can add these newer artist like the trio. Have nothing but mad respect for them. They have their own fresh new sound while paying homage to the ogs in the scene.

I listen to a lot of underground artists and lately $B have been letting me down I really hope they pick it back up
@nowimhigh4 жыл бұрын
Well Phonk is a relatively new term used to describe that scene. I first discovered 3 6 Mafia when Tear Da Club Up Thugz released Crazy n da Last Dayz. Then I copped everything 36 put out just b4 When the Smoke Clears was released. It wasn't until 01 when I finally found a plug that had every single underground tape DJ Paul and Juicy J ever released. They had close to a hundred maybe slightly more tapes they produced from mixtapes, to solo artist and so on. They had only released their underground vol 1-3 on their label. Which had many of those underground songs remastered. I had no clue the amount of material that their catalog consisted of. Which now days you can access the majority of it if you know what you're looking for. I just found a hard to find that was a mixtape that Triple 6 and 8ball & MJG put out together. Shit is 🔥... As far as $B I only listen to their earlier shit from 2012-2016 basically. I got into them because of the song Dead Batteries when I heard them sampling Frayser Boy. I was like oh shit! Then they were sampling all kinds of old school triple 6 shit. So I was immediately hooked. But they can't hold a candle on the Devilish Trio though. The Devilish Trio will never let you down. Everything they touch is gold, they are extremely talented. They are my go to, none of their songs get old and that's facts. I also fuck with Bones, Freddy Dredd, Doomshop, 6set, Ramirez, Pouya, Ghostemane, Shakewell, etc. But The Devilish Trio are easily the best and most talented out of any of the new underground artist. They actually have shit to say and are on another level period.

@@nowimhigh I think the trio are really the only ones doing the Memphis style how it was too which adds to them and groups like $uicideboy$ are hardcore influenced but don’t just make the straight phonk it’s like a mix between the old school shit and the more modern stuff
