Yoshi is just as versatile, in fact I’d say he WAY more versatile. When you look at his movelist and weakness, he can basically do everything while still being the best in class in a few things such unblockable, healing, keep out, tracking and stance. Every character I look up weaknesses for I get things like “They lack a i15 launcher” “They don’t do much damage” “they struggle the maintain momentum” “They struggle with range” or “they lack good mids, highs or lows”, but Yoshi doesn’t seem to have these character defining weaknesses, it’s just how to deal with individual moves, not the character as a whole. I’m a Jin main myself, even for Jin I would say his weakness is how punishable he is if you have good reaction, his lack of a strong power crush, his lack of strong mid pressure (After demon paw was nerfed, which I agree needed a nerf, characters need some weakness), ducking, side steps, and overall being an easy character to read if you know how Jin works, what makes a good Jin player is being to condition and fool your opponent. Yoshi on the other hand can match Jin’s damage with just a wall. With Jin I can 106 damage if I have counter hit, rage, and a wall using just frame CD1 into just frame CD2, using B3Zen1 Bf2,3,ZenU1, B2,1 1DB22,3. Yoshi can do this damage with a high crushing mid launcher that is also negative 13 on block, doesn’t require 2 just frame inputs and doesn’t require rage. So he can easily out damage Jin with half the execution. Yoshi also has the best unblockables in the game, keep out to rival Lee, healing to rival Jun, range that rivals Victor (just without the gun) with ranged lows that rival Alisa and Lili, has the tricky and complex body movement of Kuma making guessing the mixup extremely hard, has arguably the best stance in the game since it counts as airborne mitigating damage if countered and will also low crush and counter sidesteps, a full grab game that can even be done from stance, has great 50/50s due to his great lows and mids, has flash the fastest counter hit launcher in the game that can also heal, the evasion to rival Raven, and one of the worst hit boxes in the game. Jin is straight forward though. Compared to all these damn stance characters with fake outs and deceiving ass moves for days to literally mind fuck you. Its all on optimization and utilization but Id argue people have characters where they have ALOT more to work with then Jin.
