Good for you, it is hard but you are doing the right thing. Blessings to you and your mother. I can relate, as I was the caregiver for my father. The best and worst time of my life, only the worst because he was dying and we both knew it. Know that it is a great honor to care for another person in their time of need.

💯. Utterly relatable. And proven through his music, lyrics and stage performances by the man himself over and over again.
@david_faure_music3 ай бұрын
That is really relatable. Thank you so much. Thanks for sharing this and accepting yourself entirely and not just through the lens of toxic masculinity. Thanks for being strong enough you let yourself be vulnerable. As i graduate through life's trials and lessons i realize how much i am just, well, a powernerd. Realizing my traits, my personality, my "quirks" and accepting them and using them as stones to build sturdier foundations of today's version of myself. Seeing another human, who has graduated even further through life, seeing how far this human gets, gives me a lot of hope. Realizing i'm not the only person like this, and that people like me (i mean, with some common traits) exist in this world make me feel even more hope. Thank you.

Bless you yet once again, Devin. You continue to make unexpected powerful impacts on my life. I was amazed to hear your definition of a "Powernerd" match my current life experience exactly. I recently discovered I am one of those Highly Sensitive People from an article where I matched on most of the criteria and many days I just can't face leaving the apartment and having to deal with people with this and my depression (and other) issues. You don't know how much it helped me just hearing you describe my struggle. It made me feel not so weird, which is incalculably invaluable right now. I am not sure how I can adapt my quirks into a superpower as you suggest, but I am sure going to work on it. You have once again inspired me. I could talk on and on about this as I usually do, but 1000 words could not convey my gratitude to you for this and your music. Just know how much I appreciate you for ALL you do. Thank you is not enough, but it is all I can say.

Hypersensitivity is a tough thing to deal with right now. Modern society is a hellscape, and it's tough to see the good sometimes. *Then* you have people attacking you for daring to have feelings. At the same time, becoming an ostrich poses its own problems. Anyways, I get what you're putting down, Dev. Here's to better days ahead.

I channeled my inner powernerd in 1989 as I watched last crusade and bttf2 in the theaters all while playing ninja 🥷 gaiden on my nes and getting really excited for quantum leap the series! I did this while turning 16 in may as I was in Disneyland marching band in early March celebrating 35 years of magic. I still get excited and inspired my art and music which defines all of us pnerds.

Metal can be such an ugly genre. I love the power and energy of it, but so much of it is so purposely dark. With Devin I can say, "One of the most positive, compassionate, psychologically aware, transparent, and articulate human beings I know of is also an extreme metalist" [though his sub-genre varies by his mood :) ].

Maybe I’ll have Dev’s approval in referencing this here (not sure), but there’s a book that is very much about this same idea called “The Power of Different” by Gail Saltz and I found it to be a very positive and helpful read while navigating my own difficulties. Hope someone else might have a similar experience.

I just watched a video of Devin Townsend expressing that he is changing for the better; under the guise of "explaining what a powernerd is" in his typical waffling stylings. What's not typical here: Notice the difference in texture and expression and the eyes than everything previous he's put out. I hope this tracks going forward in the ways I hope to god it bloody well should my friend
