I only got to see him as the opening act to DreamTheater in Rome, but he was absolutely magical. My wife recorded a video of me tearing up to the intro of Kingdom. Absolutely fantastic experience.

Any updates on your journey? I've taken many people through this ride and I will say even if not everyone falls in love (though most do) - They all agree Devy is just such a divine character with godly musical abilities. And the emotions he can evoke with his music is just unmatched in my opinion.

I only discovered Devin Townsend a few days ago.. There is definitely a pre and post-discovery milestone in my life with this music. It seems to have raised everything to another level, like LiDAR did with the discovery of ancient Mayan ruins in the jungles of Guatemala.

He's not much of a solo playing guy. It has to fit with the song and not just be a random bit of fast nonsense. I agree with the philosophy and his solos are always perfect and tastefully written to enhance the song, not just a look at me and what I can do kind of thing.

I don't feel that everything is better. Drums are doing too much @ 4:11 with crash and open hi-hat instead of closed hi-hat, and too much accents on the kick @4:21. Gene Hoglan did it better on the album with the more subtle approach.
