Yeah this shit really helped me A LOT. I have been having what is basically a mental breakdown every time I am supposed to take a solo. I am so damn happy he tied it all together like this. Terrible music KZbin channels always make clickbait vids about "suck at soloing? DO THIS ONE THING", and then they just show you some average dumb ass shit like a single box shape for the Pentatonic scale. But this one ACTUALLY explains shit. Hell yeah.

This!!! More of this! I love the useful application of years of obtained, yet esoteric knowledge. This kind of stuff has been "The Missing Link" of my 40+ years of playing. That's why I have always been a strong support/groove player (and worked a lot) but never felt like stepping out front and doing a practice session in front of an audience. Well done Scott! Please give us more of this.... and perhaps dedicate a course or two towards this in SBL! I have been a member for many many years, but this is the first time I have been compelled to stand up and applaud! Well done indeed!

I agree, once you have learned basic technical things, you need to upgrade your thinking more than your fingers. So lessons like this are super helpful for those who are ready to improve their thinking. You mentioned one SUPER important thing in the end - to take the phrase and put it back in the context to understand how it works. I have plenty of issues with that and would LOVE to see a lesson about this topic.

@Metalbass100004 жыл бұрын
GREAT analogy! Just reciting the alphabet, or segments of the alphabet, is not an essay, or song, or story. You must combine letters into words, and words into statements which communicate a meaning. The more that meaning is something that people can relate to, or understand, or be inspired by, or find to be interesting, the more people are interested in it, and perhaps want to hear more from you. That previous statement could be about the words that come out of you combined to form meaning, or the musical notes that come out of you and combine to form, yes, meaning. And these notes you have chosen to put together must also communicate something to people, just as words do.

I think applying theory to playing is the most valuable thing you can teach us. Show us how all of these scales and modes are used in a practical application. We want to better ourselves as players and showing us how to apply it all to music and real playing is invaluable. Thanks Scott. Excellent video!

Dude, Scott, thank you for this. Every time i actually want to learn how to do it, I find stupid youtube videos titled some crap like "suck at soloing? This is why you deserve more subscribers, screw all the shitty clickbait channels, they are all choppy and teach you random things that leave gaping holes in your knowledge so you can't tie things together.
