With the extreme number of universities closing over the past few years, YES, the trades are the best available opportunity for ANY younger, and also older citizen to enter or progress in the workforce. There are several million jobs available in the trades today, this is not an exaggeration, look it up. Electricians, mechanics, HVAC technicians, plumbers and welders are not only in high demand today, but are becoming some of the highest paying jobs. This is just beginning. Seek an apprenticeship.....work and get paid while you earn your certification......NO federal tax money required. NO indentured servitude!!
