this show was THE show at it's time all the acts that played on this show were at the height of their fame Pat Benetar,The Cars,The Blasters etc...I stayed in Fridays before going out to see who was playing and the comedy acts they did were far better than SNL spewing out at this time, this show was what Late night tv was and should be but sadly that time has come and gone

Richard Lap, you are so right. Fridays had a definite Southern California vibe that was so different from the SNL New York sensibilities. The problem with CA productions is their short time span. Very creative and less ossified than SNL. You can sort of plug and play newer Not Ready for Prime Time Players (that’s obvious after almost 50 years), but the Fridays team were very unique. SNL played the long game, Friday’s was about the Now. And the musical acts were So Big, as you rightly point out. It was WAY more exciting than SNL at the time. Still is, really.

I saw their treadmill concert. Bob Two's machine got stuck and he marched right of the stage and fell into the audience. It was so cool. Everyone pogo'd 2 hours straight.

Watching this when it first aired cemented my love of Devo. I’d heard them on my favorite radio station, KROQ, in Los Angeles, and already enjoyed them but the incredible energy, musicianship, staging, and perfect assist from the obviously talented Fridays production crew make this clip legendary. I was suddenly a big fan. SO wish I still had my red conical hat. Every time they were on Fridays was exciting. Devo was, and is, one of the most unique groups in my lifetime. They’re exceedingly creative and put on amazing shows. They blazed the trail in video rock. So much fun. I’ll enjoy their music until I’m very old - to the end. I love classic Christian hymns and I love Devo. Unusual, but natural to me.

I did. I worked for KRDO-TV CH 13 in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the very early 80s. This was from a U-Matic tape I made off the ABC TV network feed. It appears that it has been cleaned up and borders added. Nice job!

WB called the hair an homage to JFK, but considering the album came out in 1981 - it's obviously Ronald Reagan. Even Gerry said so later.

It sounds somewhat like a mashup between the songs going under and super thing, though I could be wrong.

The audio quality here is abysmal, unfortunately. Can barely hear anything.
