The perception of society of same sex relationships or marriage has evolved for many centuries. In the Torrah or old testament frame of time (I'm working inductively to explain despite the old texts of the bible being incredulous with its historicity) homosexuality was viewed as more of a rewarding factor to the growth of a population than entirely being heinous or disgusting since the priority of the tribe was to have more children to add to the tribe.
