I decided to purchase a treadmill so I can continue to pursue my long distance racing goals no matter the weather. In this video, I unbox, build and take you along on my first run! I then share my initial thoughts on performance, so come on along for the ride!

I have the Proform Smart pro 2000, have been using it for for couple of years, is pretty good . I think Treadmills are great for mixing up workouts and increasing miles . I was running two times a day , so the treadmills helped in the Texas heat. Plus it helped me binge watch a whole bunch of shows while getting those miles in.

Yes, and the vast majority of them contain false information and specs. They made a substantial number of downgrades in the larger screen model.

They can definitely get monotonous, but they are a great bad weather tool... And they can force you to maintain pace on days you may not really want to do so...

Yeah that's for sure. After 6 weeks of diminishing returns in the heat and no sign of gyms reopening I took the plunge. Rebuilding my speed now! I'd love to get your advice on cleaning up my diet... I'd like to lose 8 pounds asap.

What I find interesting is the new specs on the ProForm 9000 show a 20x60" deck instead of 22x60", 1.9 inch rollers instead of 2.5 inch rollers, and weighs 263 lb instead of 298 lbs, and the motor is 3.6 CHP2 MachZ, instead of 4.0. So they've given us less in the new 2021 model? Except, there is now a 22" Smart HD Touchscreen on the 2021 model which is nice. So...I feel like it's been updated to not last as long due to the decreased specs on the 2021 versus the 2020 model, based on the roller diameter, motor, and weight of the machine. And I really want one, but worrying about the downgrades and future reliability. My current Smooth HR9.2 treadmill is 19 years old and works fine, but I'm looking forward to new technology (and, reliability).

I emailed ProForm and asked why, here is their response: Great questions, it was done to assist in product weight and allow for a more lightweight machine to assist our customer with assembly as a result of Covid and us not being able to offer the assembly assistance. We wanted to improve the overall weight of the machine while achieving a durable product. I hope this helps you.

Don't expect any new technology with this 22" screen. It is fairly archaic. It is strictly designed to project their iFit coach-led workout videos. Take those away (which most folk will after experiencing them and seeing how much it costs per month when free trial ends), and you are left with a 22" screen that shows a circle as you workout in manual-only mode (not even any pre-loaded workouts like intervals, hill climbs, etc.)

Ideal timing for me as i'm looking to get a treadmill in the coming months. Question for you - how tall are you & how high is the ceiling? As i'm wondering on head clearance when it's set to incline? Do you know if there's much in the way of vibrations coming off the feet of the machine? It's just that i'll be getting a wooden building built in the garden to become my new gym/office & am thinking about the structure & vibrations. Thanks again, Martin 👍🏃

I'm 5 '8 and ceiling here is 8 feet. When at max incline I find myself running further back on the belt so no issues there. So far I'm loving the convenience and using Google maps! I'd definitely get a rubber mat or carpet beneath your treadmill to absorb vibrations and prolong treadmill and floor life.

Hi, was just wondering how your treadmill is holding up? I am planning to buy the new 9000 with the 22” screen. Looking to do interval training and maybe some runs under 3 miles. I hear so many nightmares about Proform and Nordictrack repair support so I am a little hesitant.

Luckily for me the machine has thus far been solid. I've got over 1000 miles on it, using it for long runs up to 18 miles. Proform billing has been troublesome, but the treadmill is great. Thanks for getting in touch. I hope you find value in my other videos as well!

I just ordered the PRO 5000. Was assembly difficult and am I going to need any tools not already included?

The 9000 came with all necessary tools though I used a ratchet set to tighten some bolts. It took me about 3 hours to complete. I needed assistance while installing the hydraulic s on the bed... Based on your last review where your ProForm malfunctioned and threw you across your room, damaging your ankle, 4 months back and forth with the company with one hour and one and a half hour wait times on hold and all the B.S. you had to put up with - I will not purchase anything sold by ProForm. Dev, Did you have any issues with Bluetooth? I can't get my chest strap to sync with the machine, nor the app on my phone with the machine.

I looked at the online manual through the tablet interface last night. It indicates that Bluetooth connectivity from the phone/app to the machine is no longer necessary since both are connected to your online account. I have not yet got the chest strap working with iFit, but plan to attempt a connection to Runtastic and Strava in the coming days. I'll let you know and will definitely include this in my follow-up video review.

Someone posted a review on Amazon 4 or 5 years about poor quality of the video on the screen (they said it felt like a slide show as opposed to a continuous video). Not only was it an old comment, but I noticed they now have 22" screens with the Pro 9000. So I would imagine ProForm put some effort to improve the quality of the video experience by going to the larger screen size. Any comments about the video quality on your model?

My treadmill has a 10 inch display and runs in full HD without issue. I can only imagine things look even better now! My tablet runs a specialized OS that only runs ifit and the Proform display screens... No open Internet.

I have the 22" screen. If you like coach-led iFit workouts (and like paying monthly for them) then the screen is nice for those videos. The Google Mapping runs aren't smooth, they just switch picture views every few seconds or so as you go along. The screen itself has bad touch sensitivity compared to modern pads, so be prepared to press multiple times. Outside of iFit coach-led workouts the screen is just large and relatively useless. There aren't even any pre-loaded non-iFit workouts on this thing. Just manual-only mode. No intervals, hill climbs, etc.

@@lancehenry Hi Lance, I ended up purchasing the ProForm Pro 9000 with 22" screen. Your comments are very accurate in my experience. Too bad they just threw a large screen w/ poor quality. I mean it does work, and I have been enjoying my instructor-led workouts, but it does leaves room for improvement with the overall experience.

There are NO pre-loaded workouts on this larger screen Pro9000. Do not believe the websites and reviews that say that there are. Your only choices are coach-led iFit workouts or strictly manual-only mode. No intervals, hill climb, etc. outside of the coach-led iFit versions. So make sure you are good with manual-only mode.

Website says it comes with 50 workouts preloaded. The subscription is for full access to workout vids. I stand corrected. This is a quote from the company "For any iFit user that is Expired or chooses to not login/sign-up. In this Free Library a user will experience:50 Free Workouts that are time, distance or calorie based and only show the manual workout screens - not google maps or video workouts3 - 5 Video Workouts3 - 5 Google Maps WorkoutsWith all of our direct users though we auto-create accounts for them and iFit is included with their purchase, so the direct users should just login for the full iFit experience. The treadmill itself should be firmly on the ground with even weight distribution. If the treadmill base is warped I'd get in touch with ProForm. If it's an uneven floor I'd relocate the tradmill to flatter ground and perhaps consider a foam mat to place beneath it. Thanks for watching!

Don't buy it! you can not listen your choice of music. Can not connect with iPad/Phone/watch. You are basically buying IFIT liability of ~$400 per year!
