Devs provide age info corrections, and elk try to fly in this science hunt - Way of the Hunter

Some interesting news today! bug fixes incoming at some point for update 1.24, The ages of the animals are all over the place and the devs released a correction for the in-game encyclopedia, Elk try to fly and swan dive =)

@@bumblewoot yeah, that is extremely strange. At least they didn’t do it with the males. On a sidenote, I got extremely lucky a little while ago. I found an albino female lion so now I’m gonna go hunt the male so I’ll have the set.

I forgot to mention in case you don’t remember I’ve already found the male I was just gonna let him grow older, but now I’m getting impatient lol

It seems like after the update that the animals are far more sensitive and call less then usual

I haven't noticed too much difference in that area. But I wouldn't rule it out

I prefer that the animals call less often, it gives them away too easily. I like how in this update it seems that they more often snap twigs or rocks instead, so you know something is out there, but you don't know which animal. It leaves a bit more room for investigation and suspense of hunting.

Xbox Series X has the same issue with holding your breathe and you start auto walking. I have spooked so many animals from this it is super annoying. I also have alot of CTD seems to be associated with lighting changes outdoors. As the day turns to night the game lags rendering the lighting changes and sometimes crashes. Does it alot driving too

ah so it's both consoles. There is supposed to be a hotfix some time, but I do not know if this fix is in it. hopefully 🤞

There aren't parking at all the African map camps either, some don't have them or I completely missed them.

I thought.most if not all do, but some are hiding in bushes and some down a trail a bit

I’m pretty sure I have every camp opened up on the map for Africa. If not, I’m very close but everyone that I have found does have a parking spot now the signs are hidden in the bushes sometimes so they are hard to see hopefully that helps.

On a follow up, I have definitely opened up all of the camping sites and cabins unless there’s a hidden one without a? They all have parking signs.

It would be nice if they gave the age as well like mature 12 but have it locked behind progress like hunt 1000 whitetail and so on because by then you should know what and old whitetail looks like just like rl and it would stop the guessing game of other species what's your thoughts

without shooting a single animal, i have seen a herd just not show up a day, when i was following a mule deer to watch him grow from a 2 day old to end of life, he was at one of the two feed zones every day for the 12 years except for one (it was either day 26 or day 27), so i dont chalk that up to despawn since i hadn't shot a single animal, and he was there the next day. So i consider it a no show instead of a despawn.

You're just not a mental driver, mate. What's wrong with you? Practice hitting trees, rocks, bridge sides etc a bit and you'll be Jake. Totally mental! You'll be able to claim your first Jeep kill, and have to walk all the way back to the lodge of course. 👍 ............ 🙂 (give it a go, mate, it's kinda amusing when you've managed to mess your jeep up - might even get an Unconsciousness notch on your belt in the Perks section if you go at speed at a cliff or something else hard. It's all about in-game fun!)

Can you test the charging mechanic? If I'm not in a hunting stand animals are more prone to start approaching and when i find the one I'm trying to cull I have 4 females approaching ready to knock me out If I take the shot I need to mark the location cause I'll get knocked out shortly after by a spooked female, elk and cape Buffalo especially charge often.

Yes we've been looking at the charging mechanic. It appears to be RNG based within a species risk category upon player detection. It will take time to get a feel for each species

ok i have to ask, why not use an elk herd east of the lodge or one of the two in rivermouth? They seem like those drink zone arent too bad, and i dont think those are solo herd like the cottonwood ones

yeah on the ps5 you hold L1 it starts walking. I had that happened a few times.

I use an xbox controller on a PC and it happens to me as well. It seems to happen when I use it a bit too early, just before the bow is ready to shoot.

You showed something I really like with the new update and the Africa roll out. That bear charging from out of nowhere is awesome. The other animals do it as well like the lions and cape buffalo. I found it keeps it interesting for me while I'm hunting. Great video and thanks for the science BW!

@@bumblewoot you had mentioned as to why 1.5 in age per year. Then the doe will age at a different rate to the bucks. Maybe it’s just easier to do that then have to write code to make them age differently. That way they don’t all age up and die out at the same rate. Just my guess
