Any one know if the motors break like the 18v versions? I had an 18v Dewalt strimmer, loved it, but it died a little after 12 months. Happy to go up to 54v version but a few reviews have reported motor issues with them too.

I've recently bought the 54V trimmer - just wondered, have you worked out how to use different attachments with it? Does the flexible sleeve that joins the body & the trimmer shaft just pull off? I can't find any instruction about this anywhere & even DeWalt service centre don't know the answer 🤷♂

I don't think its a multi tool to be fair but could be wrong. The split shaft is more for storage and portability I thought
@patomahony97472 жыл бұрын
@@GardenLawncareGuy I got caught out with this unit. The motor is in the head and while it splits this is only for storage. Frankly I fear that over time if split the cables will chaff. So I’m returning mine. Repairing my old ryobi 4 cycle. There may be a version of this unit available with motor in the handle and capable of taking attachments but only version I have come across is the bare unit at a stupid price. At this stage I’m looking at converting an old split shaft 2t unit I have to electric using a high powered 1/5 or 1/8 scale rock crawler bldc motor and esc with my existing stock( 6 dewalt XR 5 ah) of batteries as my power source. These are high torque motor s that spins up to 10,000 rpm. Just have to make a custom case to attach it to strimmer shaft etc.

@@GardenLawncareGuy yes it's got to that point. The turf installed 4 years ago had a fair bit of poa in from new which seemed to be controlled but this year has gone mad. When I think of the time spent, it is more time effective overall to kill it off, scalp, power rake, overspeed and top dress then trying to keep it at bay.

Is this 54v different from the 60v flexivolt model?
@patomahony97472 жыл бұрын
Dewalt has 3 areas world wide. North America where flexvolt is listed as 60v Europe where because of trading standards laws flexvolt is listed at 54 volts Same for the XR batteries in North America they list at 20v but in Europe list at 18v. As for Australia region I’m not sure how they list. What I have discovered from my research is each decision uses different product numbers for basically the same unit , and these products have subtle differences by region. Example I came across was European guy imported a dewalt nail gun from oz. But found that the air cartridges sold in Europe have a different connection and the required ones are not sold here. Im told but can not confirm that likes of batteries while basically the same internally will only fit tools from the region they are sold in. Hope this helps clarify is some small way.

Trading standards description laws in Europe is the reason. The mean voltage of the battery pack is around 54 volts. Fully charged in region of 60v Similar to way single cell lithium ion batteries are listed as 3.7 v when in fact fully charged are in region of 4.2 volts. 60v makes item sound more powerful I have also discovered that while many items are similar with different product codes for different areas of the globe. Parts from one area will often not interchange with units from a different area.

I produced around 50 videos this year, around two per week and would estimate around 20-25hours per week working on the channel. I have featured 3 'major' bits of kit, two of which were lawn mowers. Personally I wouldn't call that taken over or disproportionate to the overall channel content.
