For a guy that claims he did his research at the beginning of the video buys the wrong set for his needs than Manufacture for tools not doing what he wants. He got the entry level tool kit expecting flex volt performance. The XR tools are head and solders above the non-XR set. Also uses smaller batter Dewalt offers. Love Black and Yellow. Served me well for over 10 years.

First, make a good research and then buy the tools for the job you're going to do. There are different models with different specs for different jobs. Don't blame the tools for your bad research. That's your responsibility.

At a gun show once a guy said to me, "Buy once, cry once". At the I was about 15 years younger and I laughed. Now I completely understand, its best to buy the best thing the first time, and enjoy it. In most cases you end up buying both, might as well get the right one the first time.

Hey Dan, no hate I've been watching you since your first tiny house! However, always buy brushless if your wanting professional stuff. Also, DeWalt has a "flexvolt" line up that uses 60 volts instead of 20 volts which obviously has much more power for tools like a grinder and a much better circular saw they offer that uses 7 1/4 blade. Point is, I think this is buyers mistake rather than manufacturer design/quality.

Plus not everyone needs the XR set either, $500 for the majority of the tools the average joe needs for home jobs is a good price honestly. For the price I think you get a decent setup, the only downside is the cheap 2ah batteries, they should be 5ah instead like the XR sets.
@p8ddy

The grinder you seem more let down by battery performance. The 2.0ah is a bit anaemic. Good for household but not for high demand appliances like a grinder. With a 5.0ah battery you would likely have a far better experience. The drill is a base model. Impact OK. The oscillating tool looks like it's the XR brushless tool? It's a fantastic bit of kit - The lightness is engineered into the tools, they *shouldnt* be heavy, and weight doesn't equal performance. You'll have some sort of power transformer in the corded tool. Fit a 5.0ah battery to the Oscillating tool, and compare weights with the corded. That'll give you a fairer comparison. I have the same (I think) circular saw, and it's a great wee tool. Not the most powerful, but it's reliable and strong enough, and very comfortable. It's strong enough to rip 2 by 4 all day long. 2.0ah batteries won't give you the heft you need. Maybe a kit with fewer XR tools and 5.0ah batteries would be more what you need, but I still think that the kit coupled with 4 or 5ah batteries would have changed your mind.

I'm a Milwaukee fan so DeWalt generally isn't my thing but I'll say that your first mistake was paying for a large combo kit. Generally these kits with milwaukee and DeWalt are the bottom of the barrel more designed for the home owner. They are also probably brushed. Brushed tools are not nearly as efficient and powerful as brushless. You will need to use larger batteries.

The only reason I purchased the XR 18 Gauge Dewalt Brad Nailer kit was because the Ryobi had at least 50 of them broken on e-bay for sale as parts. What the hell is that? Dewalt is owned by Stanley Black & Decker. Stanley Companies (power tools) include Stanley, Black & Decker, Porter-Cable, Dewalt, & Craftsman. I have the Porter-Cable set that is comparable to Dan's Dewalt set. When you buy the sets they always skimp on a couple of the tools. I really like mine though. Two years and going strong. True that the small circular saw won't do any heavy cutting but it is quite handy for quick cuts that aren't super critical. I never realized how much I would use a cordless reciprocating saw. In addition to my metal and wood blades, I have pruning blades that are great around the yard. It totally replaced my bow saw. My friend has the XR Brushless kit and it is much better. He also has the 5.0ah batteries and they really make a difference.

2010 era tools with 2017era batteries, xrp is a better investment, for the price, you got a lot of tools for the price, an investment in bigger batteries will make it better. Milwaukee red since 2005. The brush less versions seem nicer, we still got one guy to convert in the shop to Milwaukee haha, Hope the next purchase gives you a little more joy. I also look at warranty replacements as a factor, I know rigid seems to have a good one, I know the Dewalt is not as long as some of the others.

@salcolonsc
@salcolonsc 5 жыл бұрын
Dude, the long tool you picked up is not called a "saw zall". That is a brand name. It is called a reciprocating saw or " recip" for short. Also, that set you picked up is a consumer/contractor special. You get what you pay for. They have way better models like the XR/Brushless and the "Premium" tools that have metal in them. DeWalt also makes the brushless Flexvolt line which runs at 60v. In case you are wondering, the 60v Flexvolt batteries are backwards compatible with the 20v line. Brushless tools have a completely different type of motor. They have no lost potential like brushed motors that spark. It works based on magnetism. Brushless tools are more powerful, and the batteries last longer without having to charge them as much, which means they also have a longer life because you don't have to charge as frequent. "mAh" stands for milli amp hour. Ah stands for Amp hour. 4,000 mAh is equal to 4 Ah. It is basically the capacity of the battery. There is no way you can get anything done with a grinder using a 1.5 or 2 Ah battery. If you seriously use the grinder a lot, consider getting the 6, 9 or 12 Ah batteries. And lastly, you really can't compare that baby bluetooth speaker with a bigger radio. You want to hear something? Check out the Toughsystem 1.0 jobsite radio. The 2.0 will be out soon if you wait. That is the best job site radio on the market, period. They also make a slightly smaller one which is really good. The Tstak radio. It has a little less base the Toughsystem, but is the 2nd or third best radio in terms of sound. The Bosch Cube is up there as well, but is pretty old, so it doesn't have all the features the DeWalt have.

I've been doing construction for the past year, using many different brands from other construction workers, I've found that the non-brushless DeWalts are pretty cheap and a little gutless. Makita non-brushless are WAY more powerful, if you are going to go DeWalt get the brushless, if not go with Makita. Almost everyone thats used my Makita stuff has been impressed. The only tool I've been a little dissappointed with in the Makita set was the circular saw, it works in pinch, but its a bit gutless, they do make a dual battery version thats got way more kick

That’s a bummer the tools didn’t work out for you. I was also wondering like around the 6:15 mark, if you said that you expect the tools to last 10-15 years or do not expect the tools to last 15 years. I know when I bought my Ryobi tools like 15 years ago. I didn’t expect them to last. But they seem to be holding up well. Although I did have to buy new batteries to replace the ones that died on me. But to me. Replacing the batteries isn’t too bad for all the use I’ve gotten out of them. I’ll definitely be buying more Ryobi in the future. The big reason I went with Ryobi over anyone else was they had just announced the 18v one plus line (the nicad batteries) and said all future batteries would work with the one plus tools. Cause I hate buying the batteries.

The battery upgrade was a switch from old tech to lithium. It wasn't a ploy to make you buy into a new ecosystem. How can you complain about battery tech, and also complain about the fact that they came out with new battery tech. And how many years ago was that anyway??

The Grinder is brushed and you had an 2.0 battery on it. Can’t really expect much from that from my experience especially on any heavy or intensive tasks. I am surprised Dewalt are still selling that particular model tbh as it has to be over about 7 or 8 years old now, and they have a new model available. I’ve had mine for 6 years without fault (Plumber).

Support the future. Love the concept of dewalts 120v miter saw cordless or corded tools. I wish dewalt made their lower powered tools with an option of being corded or cordless till the inevitable future of cordless tools. cordless tools are the future. *Would you use a corded tool in space? Lot of research.... i question that by how you say amp hour. Go binge watch AvE here on YT. I don't have less than 4Ah batteries, and use 18v 6Ah for my angle grinder. And even those burn out pretty quick. But i can run it continiously by swapping batteries between the charger and the tool. It's not that dewalt sucks, but all tool companies have like 20 models of the same tool with small differences. Everything from trash to fash. Personally i'm a fan of brushless battery powered makita and festool guy, but it's like a religion or car brand.

In one modular, but central unit. With a little worktop, for holding screws and tools. Angle grinder Drill/impact drill combo Impact gun with high tourqe, 1/2" comined bit holder. Ocilating tool Vaccum with adaptor for all tools, possibly in the main unit. Hand Router Bayonet saw/ maybe buzzsaw combo (Sander) Circular saw Most the tools could have the same motor, grip, battery port, led light, trigger and only have the different mechanism attatched. I was shopping for tools this year, bought similar tools set you got. I think it was 6 tool for 450, returned it right away after watching other people's review. Looked into their brushless line, and every TIME their set was missing something. For example, their atomic line I wanted to get, two drill, a hacksaw, and oscillating saw, 299. But, the two drill were one drill driver and a impact driver. I wanted a hammer driver not a drill and the battery were 2amp. I could would of been okay with it, but why the f*ck do I need to buy another battery, and still be short a hammer drill that I wanted. So I went with the Milwaukee. A hammer drill driver, impact driver, and a hackzall. With two 5amp battery. One tool short, but the tools that were included were better quality. So 399 for Milwaikee Fuel 3 tools or 450, for Dewalt 6 tools, or 299 for dealt atomic four tools. All would of been fine, but I think for now I'll stick with the corded tools I have and start with what I want, which is the basic drills and portable cutter with a decent battery.

Brushless is the way to go. Nobody buys brushed except for people who don't know what they're doing or looking at.

Those batteries are to small, I have been using 18 volt 4 amp hour that’s AH for years and they work great I even use them on my 18 volt circular saw and it gets the job done...

And get the tough system radio. Blows the one you said was expensive out of the water. Dewalt is a ground shaker. honestly, the TWO, 500 dollar Bose speakers do not compare to the ONE Dewalt on a job site.

You couldn't really expect to buy a contractor quality 9 piece tool kit for under 500 dollars. You get what you pay for my friend.

Well how can you expect a set to be the end all be all? You need 5ah batteries for sawzall , grinder and circular saw. All pros use cordless tools now, go check out a real worksite

No research at all from this guy. I have all the top of the line XR DeWalt tools. With that said I wish DeWalt would stop selling these old bottom of the barrel crap. It waters down the brand.

XR alone does not mean its brushless . thats where they fooled many people into beleiveing they had a brushless tool when I'm reality look close and the true brushless ones say XR Brushless on the side not the XR alone those are not brushless !

Dewalt is definately not going to send you an xr set... smh. First mistake was buying dewalt.. Milwaukee brushless with 5ah or larger for life...:)

The standard dewalt kit could be for homeowners or rookies learning carpentry but its just a stepping stone because they are affordable and do get the job done but you even said you paid 50$ each tool🤦‍♂️. Now dewalt XR tools are made to use for almost everyday use and the tools are better quality and the batteries last alot longer . Now the flexvolt line is for everyday professional use and has about the same power as corded tools and batteries are bigger but its is the best line of cordless tool out to me......but you get what you paid for but getting 2 5Ah batteries and those tools will make your money back x10...your so use to corded that your use to running tool all day and cordless just have to grow on you .......trust me Milwaukee and makita not no better
