Mine is doing the same. I called them cause it has a 3 year warranty & they sent me a prepaid shipping label to send it off to get fixed. But at that one year point it seems to fail.

Wish I had seen this before purchasing, mine just died. Really disappointed in Dewalt.

Brushless motors have switching sensors that can blow burn up or get dirty.. You're getting power so it's not a wiring issue. Look inside the motor for dirty sensors.

This sounds like a promising potential explanation. Guess I'll start by blowing air into the motor area to clean it out.....

@@madpogue I've taken mine apart and it's full of grass.. probably keeping it from cooling properly.

Mine crapped the bed today. Dewalt is garbage. Going back to a gas trimmer, last one lasted 25 years.

Mine too

I have had two of these fail now too with minimal use. I pulled one apart for inspection and cleaning and all wiring and solder joints look okay. Sounds like the mosfets can go on the circuit board....not worth buying another....which sucks because I love the cordless and have dewalt batteries. I don't want another set of batteries for a trimmer...

Just took my lower head apart and there was trim line in the gear. Wouldn’t make a noise trying to use but kind of an easy fix.

Light usage for barely a year and motor died, no replacements available, because these Dewalt trimmer motors are junk and don't last. Have many good Dewalt tools, except for their worthless trimmer, don't buy these until Dewalt gets a clue on motor reliability.

Yep my xr 18v did exactly the same thing at 12 mths it kicks like that but wont turn, not what i expected from a dewalt product. plus out of hundreds of receipts ive lost this one.

Kind of similar with mine. Sensors look fine, bearings look fine, there is power. The thing is, it'll spin and rattle a bit. Then just stop. When turned by hand it sometimes starts spinning again for a while. I got the idea that something broke loos and is keeping the rotor from spinning freely.

The ring of balls connecting rotator to stator fall out. This is a design flaw.

Quel a été la solution ?
@ChaoSu-i9i6 ай бұрын
Figure out the root cause. The rotor is being hooked to stator over ring of balls. The the ring of ball is really easy to fall out if it ran into severe shake. As the motor is installed to head of this trimer, and the head keeps shaking when we use it. It means this design will cause this motor fall very easily This is a design flaw. It will guarantee the motor stop working after you use it severely. I will never buy any trimer that has head motor.
