What worked for me: 1. The bass. You can run, but you can't hide from it. The bass was brilliant throughout the entire song. 2. Back Vocals. I was blown away by Sunidhi's energetic take on this song. Simply outstanding. 3. Kabil Mia's trumpet. I am a huge fan, and he didn't disappoint this time as well. 4. Boga's sublime appearance and his khomok. 5. Tashfi and Suchana's powerful singing. Things that didn't work for me: 1. Murshidabadi's voice, like you said. I literally double-checked my headphones to see if the volume was lowered down or if I had gone deaf! I am just relieved now that some other people also felt that it's actually his voice that did not match the power the song required. Nothing to take away from him; I am a huge fan of his other works. It just didn't work for me for this particular song. 2. The lyrics of the melody part where Arnob joins to sing. The melody was beautiful, but the lyrics were pretty ordinary in my opinion. Also, this melody part I would love more if I could hear it as a separate song. But it didn't blend well here, I felt. 3. The way they pronounced অরসিক। everytime It sounded like ও রসিক to me. It was pretty disturbing once I started noticing it. I would say this song, for me, was a mixed bag of some liked and not-so-liked elements. But what I always appreciate is experimentation. I have always felt that Coke Studio Bangla is not afraid of doing experimentation, and I have huge respect for the entire team for this as well. On a side note, You guys looked a bit tired to me. I hope everything is going well in your life. Take care

Lyrics except that was actually good and thought-provoking. That should be noted as well. It was that which neutralized the lack of energy in Murshid's voice
@ZihadTarafdar Жыл бұрын
@@king_halcyonIt goes without saying that this is absolutely my personal opinion. Of course, people will have different opinions from their own perspectives. I have nothing against the lyrics of the main song. They are indeed thought-provoking and carry the main spirit of the song. However, the lyrics were also the reason I found the modern part of the lyrics flat and not so appealing.

Very well put indeed! Again, nothing against Murshidabadi but probably more energy was required. Some of viewers also made an interesting observation that his voice might not have been processed in the best way during post-production. Maybe this could be the reason too!

Dang maaan.... what a rollercoaster... seemless transitions... the main vocal was buzzing soothingly in the ether... lots of national/international music specialists are talkin about it so positively and want to explore more bangla music... beat boxing was funbeat of heart as a British beatboxer shouted it lit. Philosophyical lyrics, everything was smashing and celebration vibe in music.... it's one of the best of cks across the countries. Shout out to CSB... THEY DID IT ......

Exactly on point, I Couldn't agree more with you guys. About the outro, basically they tried to mix it in a bengali way of celebrating weddings and programs during the 90's with trumpet. That's what I think, I might be wrong. Basically thats the essence they tried to project and I appreciate them for the try.

Thank you Haris and Hammad, you just spoke my mind! You spoke about the exact things I noticed, liked and disliked about the track! The song felt underwhelming to me on first listen as well. Only saving grace was Boga (he smoked Murshidabadi in 5 seconds). On second and third listen, I got the guitar and electronic parts. I am not a fan of beatboxing as well, and the part on this song was not very high quality either, but my God that Dotara chord! The ladies were better than Murshidabadi, but I agree with you guys that it needed the whip like Sumi's. I would also like to hear more of Fuad's electronic work. I expected more of it in the outro, missed that sorely. As I have said it many times, listening to these songs with you guys doubles the fun. Thank you again for that.

I've listened to this particular track for at least 10 times by now. With and without. I felt really good but also like something very crucial was missing. And, then you almost like started to speak my mind. I also liked the beatboxing only because it's been fused with Dotara and Khomok. To me, that was the SPACE which symbolically represented the mating of East and West, old and new, folk and pop. I too think, there ought to be "more appropriate" singers who are able to sing the Qawali part with the "right" strength and passion in their voice. Even Sumi's part in 'Bhober Pagol' was not exactly of my taste. But, I guess, the producers aren't really supposed to focus on our tastes. I could be wrong but the target audience probably are the global listeners. I mean, if Murshodabadi was replaced with someone who's a Baul, with a similar vocal like Aleya Begum from 'Kotha Koiyo Na', the funk might've been not so funky. Just my late realization. Meaning no disrespect to any artists. I believe, 'Constructive criticism' often be a form of love. So, you guys really inspired the honesty in me throughout this reaction, for I too believe "the truth is not always beautiful nor beautiful words the truth". 🙏🏼🤍

I usually agree with you guys but on this track I have to disagree. I think the producers of Coke Studio Bangla really want to use the platform to promote innovation and experimentation in music. Sure, it could have been a pure qawwali but where’s the fun in that? I mean, how unexpected is it to see/hear funk music fused with qawwali? It was for me and it’s almost like they started with qawwali then went into funk and then they came back, split up and kept doing that same pattern over and over. Pretty cool. Sorry you guys didn’t enjoy it.
