I know this is an older video. I'm just re-watching them as I sit in the cold of Michigan. I noticed in the boiling portion, you were taking the pieces out a little baggies. You didn't mention it, but those should be replaced as well to avoid any contamination. Always love the videos!--Patti

A guy after my own heart. My brother owns a very expensive Prevost Conversion Motor Coach. He bought it new and has not only maintained it meticulously, but has improved it as well. He reminds me of you. His coach is in showroom condition always. It does keep him busy. But he gets "into the zone" and enjoys doing it. Believe it or not, one of the things I am look forward to is detailed maintenance, give me something technical to do again is a large part of my motivation to getting an Airstream. It is satisfying work maintaining and inspecting mechanical/electronic things. It is a big bowl of suck when you are forced into emergency repairs that otherwise could be avoided.

One of the best comments ever! Some people have said that what I do is often overkill. What they miss - and what your brother gets as well - is that there is great joy is maintenance and making things better. Fixing things that are broken is not fun (and especially on the road) but the more you maintain, the less suck you experience. Thanks for watching!

Hey, man I had a question. I don't have water hooked up yet but I want to use a portable shower pump/nozzel (one that they use for camping) in the shower itself. I'm wondering where the water would go through the shower drain, and would using that portable shower in there work even though I don't have water hooked up? Thanks a million

@@joeslacker1020 Your portable shower would drain into the grey waste tank, which you can empty at a dump station.

Thanks for watching! Your comment made me feel really good. I never want to tell people "what to do"; only "here's what we do" and leave it up to the viewer to decide if that works for them or not. Hope to see you down the road someday.

OK I confess I thought you were a tad extreme here, but what did I do? I went and did it except for the boiling part. I opted for a bucket of chlorine water instead. You really did remind me to do what I was going to ignore. So again.....thank you. I find that boiling water is meant for lobster.

Thanks for watching! As I've said, with safety and health I don't think you can be too extreme. We drink the water straight from the tank and it tastes just fine.

We maintain our freshwater system in nearly the same manner. And we drink the water from our tank after it has been filtered through our Travel Berkey. We use the Berkey because we are filling our freshwater tank from many different sources (campgrounds, rest areas, gas stations, really anywhere we can find free potable water). The Berkey gives us a layer of water safety.

Great tips for de-winterization! Especially getting the fresh water tank ready for the season. I will boil my accessories as well. Great tip on the water hose decontamination too! Just got to make one comment in reference to the Vermont fluoride controversy comment you made, “Probably a Democrat.” Don’t think that was necessarily helpful to your instructional video.

Certainly an eye opening and informative video. I liked it. However, watching you do the prep work without surgical gown, mask and gloves was crazy. The EPA should have been involved and clergy in case it didn't work out. Otherwise it was great. Thank you.

Do you have issues with the RV setting out in the elements. I live in El Paso with extreme heat conditions.

Thanks for watching! Our RV stays outside all of the time. In the winter, it freezes in the snows of Vermont while during the summer it may bake in the heat of the American south or southwest. It does just fine!
