Thanks for the video! I've been an Oura user for almost five years, which seems crazy. I've had their gen 2, gen 3 and just got the gen 4 about a month ago. I'm also type 1 and have been on the G5, G6 and now G7. I also happen to be a data junkie. What I'd love to see is just the data overlayed in a way that highlights possible correlations. If I can open the Oura app and see my heart rate or stress level throughout the day with my G7 data overlaid, that could be huge. It could help reveal things that could help to manage my sugars. Fingers crossed.

The competition in the tech sector is intense. That can only be good news for diabetics. I hope they succeed! $7 a month is certainly less expensive than the Dexcom system, but it would take a lot more work at this point to be useful. I wish them the best of luck!

I'm so torn with this...one one hand, this is a very interesting and possibly exciting move to the future. On the other hand, where is the focus on a cure? I know of some research and other companies focused on that, however, couldn't that investment from Dexcom be put towards a possible cure or will that put them out of business? Don't get me wrong, I do think it's fascinating and yes, combining the biometrics with CGM may be very useful. I just have to also consider the possibility that perhaps the focus could use some adjustment. OR perhaps this kind of data could lead to more possible options for a cure? Ugh..so conflicted.

I would doubt the investment is for diabetes; rather, a way for dexcom to diversify its product line and capture other markets. This would make more sense.

Should have donated $75m of sensors to needy diabetics.

Dexcom was rumored to go into a similar agreement with Apple to bring that glucose monitoring tech to the Apple watch. This new agreement with Oura suggests that that relationship is no longer.

Interesting! I hadn’t heard about that.

I’m hoping for the alleged Apple Ring. Now that’s a wearable I’d like. I’d upgrade my Apple Watch Series 8 if they ever got CGM in their watches, but I’d prefer a ring.

I don't know they have been" working on non advasive" for a while now
@TSMO973 күн бұрын
imagine if they donated that to researching a cure instead... no cant have that... a cure? they wouldn't make money of us then...

What does bring the ring? I only wanted my bloodsugarmanagnemt hold the level.

I wonder if Apple will invest in Abbott for the FreeStyle Libre line.

What happens to readings when the ring needs to be charged? Diabetics need round the clock reliability.
@coyley724 күн бұрын
Well, if it takes 20-30 minutes for a full charge then that would be fine. I mean you could be charging when you have a shower, or getting cleaned up in the morning. No problem

This is the biggest waste of $75 million. They're not going to succeed in making a non-invasive CGM accurate enough for dosing insulin. Let's also not forget the subscription model of Oura that would be an additional burden on patients. This is disappointing news as a Dexcom user.

Couldn’t agree more. Just another way to invade our privacy. Not everyone wants to be tracked
@rafaelsmith6814 күн бұрын
Agreed. Not too thrilled that Dexcom and other CGM companies seem to be focusing and devoting so much $$$ on non diabetic use cases. Lets be honest...non-invasive will be for non-diabetic/diet/exercise related use cases not insulin pumps and closed loop systems. FDA will never allow it...just look at the blocks on blood pressure apps on smart watches. These read everything with a light things just cannot be that accurate. Spending $75 million on a fad seems like a bad business decision...why not spend that $$ on improving whatever comes after the G7...accuracy, wear length, integration with pumps and closed loop systems?

@ your spot on. There’s no money to be made with insulin pumps. It’s all about the CGM. That’s why Medtronic refuses to all Dexcom to work on their pumps. Medtronic owns their own CGM company and refuse to allow competitors to work. the MARD values on their CGM sucks. I will never deal with a Medtronic again. I still wish Animas pumps were around that pump was the best. I use Trio with onimood dash and tubeless is amazing

@@inspectorgadget346 Medtronic recently announced that they are going to be working on integrating a version of the Freestyle Libre into their pumps.

@@inspectorgadget346 There is some money to be made with pumps. Initial cost isn't cheap. But as with the CGM's, the proprietary reservoirs, tubing (where applicable), and infusion sets is ongoing. Seems I heard Medtronic has teamed up with Libre with a "proprietary Libre CGM" that only works with Medtronic pumps.
