Lars is a Swedish legend and Riel can be seen on a recently released DVD of a concert with Bill Evans, recorded after LaFaro's death. Sahib recorded on Prestige--once a date with Phil Woods and Gene Quill. Not sure what happened to him. All are supremely lyrical solos, but as usual Dexter is the master storyteller. Long Tall would aim each note at the listener's heart and strike with surgical precision. Stitt, Mobley, Jug, Trane, Land, Mr. T, Jaws--on the bandstand they all deferred to Dexter.
