Probably Dexter's best ever interpretation of this wonderful composition. His sound here is clear, wide open, bright, warm and colourfull ... his use of all instrument's possibilities and total command of improvisation following line of main melody is phenomenal. I heard this composition for the first time somewhere in mid seventies on radio and I still remember my reaction on Dexter's playing ... he catapulted me in musical heaven, I want to know immediatelly all about him, the musicians in group and to buy record with this tune (on SteepleChase records)... Sweet memory. Regards from Slovenia! Vladimir Trop

I often wonder who and what was Tonya’s relationship to Donald Byrd and/or Dexter Gordon. She must to have been important person. With such a memorial of this recording, says much of what the eyes and heart doesn’t know.
