We have taken in a stray cat. Dexter tries to play, Socks is not amused.

Aww love the background photo's. Dexter's facial expression in the one makes it very evident he knows he is a star! Such a cute puppy. And your son is so cute, you should definitely upload one with Dexter and him! It's adorable how he has his head rested on your son, that is a very protective gesture. I bet they get into all kind of mischief together.

Are all huskies so vocal? Like to ''make sounds'' like they talk - don't know how else to call it :) I love it! It seems to me that they have strong personalities :)

for the most part huskies are definitely one of the more vocal breeds. I had two and you could almost have conversations with them, great dogs. unfortunately most have an instinct to go after small animals and both of mine were very territorial. I would research the breed more before considering owning one.

Zippo Cartel Could you explain me in which way were they territorial? And yeah I know they really tend to hate cats and only way ya got chance for the cat and husky to be friendly is to introduce them when they are all both young... I plan to get a husky some time in the future, I didn't expect them to be perfect but any advice would come handy, thanks

senka mehic They are very pack orientated and defensive of whats "theirs". Mine will watch other dogs walk through the yard but if somebody steps outside its on. Some of the territorial behavior varies from dog to dog

Basically if any animal that wasnt familiar to them tried to come onto the property, they would go after it. This came in handy however when some coyotes tried to go after our cats.

Zippo Cartel thank god your cats are safe but if you really think about it... we are the problem, invading their habitat unfortunately its true.. :( some people don't see it as that and kill wild animals... hence the tigers and lions are on the verge of extinction... or worse yet some animals are already extinct.

Hi There, Dexter is a very beautiful dog.. :) My Labrador is also named Dexter.. and Siberian Huskies are my favorite breed.. Am kind of amazed right now, by finding a Siberian Husky named Dexter.. :)

Yeah my huskies also have a cat living with them.....They wanna play with cat ...but cat doesnt understand this of course they argue.....and cat is always running...well...almost always====))))

I think it's only an issue when the cat starts acting like prey. i.e. acting skittish and running away. Depends on the dog's drive to hunt! :> This looks pretty controlled and safe to me.

Nope - 90% of the time he is scared of her (she is a bit of a bully), the other 10% he is trying to play. He has never shown aggression toward her whatsoever, but all dogs are different.

if you socialize the Husky as a pup you shouldn't have any issues. I have a 7 month old and she doesn't pay any mind to our 17 lb fat boy cat! Slasher is right though, all dogs are different but consistent training typically provides consistent behavior

If you raise your dog correctly then no. My Husky wouldn't harm someone even if they were biting him. I always played him very close when he was a puppy growing up. Always picked him up and hugged and wrestled with him. He loves it to death and has no problem when my baby nephew jumps on him and so on. We have small dogs so he knows when to stop if you hears any high pitched cry and to be gentle. I also pet him a TON when he was eating so he doesn't get mean around his food bowl.
