Vogel not appearing would be such a misstep it’s a perfect way to humanize harry and make him more of a victim which is what they’re trying to do

No. Do you know what cops are trained like? They're basically brainwashed to be tense and seek danger, never allowing themselves to relax outside their own home AT LEAST, Harry represents the narrow perspective, and self solution mentality of a cop. It makes his suicide have so much more meaning because then he knows this is really his fault, what he made his son into. THAT'S what humanized him, the dr Vogel thing is so so cowardly in comparison... and in many of the flashbacks we see his rotten cop mentality beyond just the killing, it makes the tale more tragic and life like, a cop failing to understand a son due to his negative assumptions of him, pushing him to be a doll, pretending to be normal and assuming the worst for Dexter's differences as a human being, up until the guilt of it all ended him. It makes him a truly human, truly flawed character who's also a victim of cop mentality, beautiful and so so tragic...

Or, make it seem as if she were the master mind behind it all. In the OG series they made it seem as if Harry had been seeing Fogel for awhile.. At least during the time when he was killing small animals, then started talking about doing the same to people. That was how it appeared at first before turning her character into Mary Poppins Dexter style.. She seemed to be the big bad, until they introduced the son...

@jaimeherber8353 There's lots of prequels that have major characters that aren't mentioned in the original timeline. That doesn't make it "lazy" writing. For all we know, he could end up dead or get fired for some reason that makes sense to not be hearing from again

I love how they expose Harry to what he have done. When he realized how much power Dexters demons have over him and how Dexter slips vehemently out of his control, becoming a killing machine, as forceful as Harry had never imagined in it's whole sicnificance. It's no suprise anymore he's gotten desperate of what he has set into motion and even how horrofied he was of it's outcome to admit suiside finally. Also intresting is young Dexters behavior in evry-day-situations vs. dealing with the bad guys. Around the bad guys he appears to be a random normal guy at the first sight from the start, indicating that he "feels right" in their presence, no insecureties in dealing with them, that he belongs to this side of the coin. Harry was the only person he was allowed to have an intimate relationship in his youth. And after Harrys death he was craving for this intimacy for the rest of his life. Wihle Dexter later stated that Harry never told him, the first murder would cut him off from the rest of humankind, Harry was not really aware of how hyper-intimate was his relationship for Dexter and left Dexter not to be able to survive without any kind of real intimacy, somebody who "believes in him". What made it extremly dangerous for all people he tried to set up a relationship to and leads to the catastrophy with Harrison who realized in the end that Dexter tried to cought him for his own needs. The love for Harrison Dexter "felt" might be the fact that Harrison don't let capture himself, that Harrison was "smarter" than Harry and Deb.

Someone should do a what if video of dexter being trained to be an assassin modeled after both real life and fictional figures philosophical teachings of Miyamoto Musashi and bowen's old code from the movie DRAGONHEART with a little bit of THE SHADOW tossed in, I'm certain if he was put into the mindset of a black ops agent rather than a serial killer and was told from the start about his mother and brother, about what happened to them and why harry couldn't keep him along with dr. Vogal there to help him from the beginning with his repressed memories and emotions he would have viewed those psychopaths quite differently and his story would have went an entirely different route. Lol😎😁💯🔥👍🏻

I wanted to give the new guy playing Dexter a chance to either do a great imitation or a new interpretation, it's hard to follow up an iconic performance from someone like Michael Hall who was born to play that role. After three episodes I'm not feeling it - he's just not as compelling or funny as Hall was in the role, and probably 95% of why Dexter works as a show is, unsurprisingly, Dexter himeslf being so entertaining to watch. Sin is only interesting because I'm already invested in these characters, and that's going to wear thin if it's mostly showing us events we already know rather than revealing new angles on things we thought we knew

Yup, this just proves why this show is a bad idea in thought and execution. The sequel was bad enough to just get through, but watching all these actors desperately ape the original characters is too bloody painful and infuriating to bother with despite the attempt at novelty thst adds nothing but desperation in an old and overdone genre (with the exception of insufferable old Dexter's inane voiceovers).
