Can we truly say this is photosynthesizing if it isn't producing glucose? It appears to be doing the light dependent reactions (assuming that water is being used) and nothing else. It's still a pretty sweet breakthrough though.

I would like to ask, how much water does it need to convert into oxygen? also how much oxygen? As far as I know, water can be converted directly to oxygen through electrolysis. How would silk leaf compare with electrolysis?

This man-made leaf could help humans to colonise space. Find out how here: www.dezeen.com/2014/07/25/movie-silk-leaf-first-man-made-synthetic-biological-leaf-space-travel #design #technology #space #syntheticbiology

I believe a few plants can grow in zero g, however this would be extremely beneficial for any type of space mission..

Any peer reviewed papers of this so far? A project created by a art student who happened to take a course in engineering. I am not saying its totally fake but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

what I heard him say was sacrificing real leaves to make artificial leaves. with a more complicated process than planting a tree. congratulations this thing will add waste like garbage every time it is not used anymore.

how is it possible without stomata you can not produce oxygen. chlorophyll is a pigment i agreed it plays important role in exchanges of gases but not without chloroplast
