That’s why i cancelled my trip. None of the discounts applied to the days i’d chosen (months before the deals came out mind you) and a bunch of attractions were going to be closed. Disney’s been really disappointing lately, feels like it’s on a slow decline

I think this free dining is only "worth it" if you were already going to meet all of the requirements. If you have to add park hopper, change resorts, or adjust your dates, I don't see the value. Also you might do better with litterally any other discount to your room or package if one is available. Free dining actually did save us some money on our trip in 2017 and the dining plan made everything feel all inclusive, even if we did do the snack credit walk of shame the last day. If we had paid out right, we would probably have made more conservative food choices and missed out on some things we enjoyed. We would definatly have spent more money if we had ordered the exact food we ate. While we were never worried about maximizing the dining plan, it was worth it for us. This was true because we had free quick service dining while staying at All Star Sports and just paid for the upgrade to standard dining.

This is true. When people talk about free [fill in the blank], but they're paying 3x more for their hotel stay; spending more for food because they can only eat onsite; and/or required to purchase something else (i.e. hopper) -- it ain't free.

The Dole Whip Sangria Float would melt faster because the alcohol in the sangria will lower the melting point of the dole whip at the sangria-dole whip interface. Dole whip is mostly water and water dissolves into ethanol easily, but it also releases a bit of energy as it does so, which will cause the dole whip to melt faster than it otherwise might. The now liquid but still cold dole whip will sink to bottom of the cup, refreshing the dole whip interface. Mix that in with ethanol disrupting the dipole-dipole interactions in the water, and you have a recipe for melting dole whip.

I wish that the resort mugs were insulated and could be reused for later visits because otherwise it seems really wasteful. It would be nice if there could be a discount for reusing it in later visits too.

Disney really found a way to torpedo any value in the "Free" dining plan. I remember when moderates got the standard plan, might as well save yourself $300+ a night and the cost of park hopping, get whatever room discounts are available and pay for a dining plan if you must... which I haven't done the numbers on what point it makes it useful to have (especially if you're turned away from a bunch of restaurants because you didn't reserve months in advance)

Every location is staggered starting in early january...magic kingdom is typically the last area to have holiday decor taken out and it's usually the second week of january shortly after the marathon.
