@@sirenthomas4595 there are actually pictures of the warnings that were in place. But the true warning was the Preshow. It was a Tim Curry voiced Robot demonstrating a teleportation device on a cute little creature…. Who gets fried on the way thorough, showing that even though it works, it’s not exactly safe. He then proceeds to tell the audience that while something’s in the space between Teleporters, you can just leave the person suspended indefinitely. And you hear the screams of the little guy, and they’re now gone. Probably dead. And people STILL thought it would be a good thing for their little kids?!?! 🤦‍♀️

When I went to Disney in the first grade my parents wouldn't let me ride stitch's great escape because they heard other little kids got super scared and they didn't want me to associate my favorite movie with that or not want to play or sleep with my stitch anymore. Honestly a good call on their parts because I was a scaredy cat back then (and I still am now, anxiety is a harsh mistress) anyway I still love Lilo and stitch and I still sleep with stitch all these years later, but seeing the picture of the disassembled stitch animatronic after the ride closed was sad. They could have repurposed him for a different ride he was still good

For context about kids would get scared on the Stitch experience is that it was the same as the previous one with a different coat of paint. The Actually scary one, ExtraTerrorestrial. Instead of blood of a worker being splattered on guests, it was supposed to be spit. And instead of a giant hungry alien flying around, it’s just stitch running around still creeping up on people and scaring them. No wonder it STILL scared kids. Edit:Just found out That it’s gonna be reopening and I am really happy!!!!

Went to Disneyworld in the early 2000s with my mom, two friends, and the mom of one of those friends. My mom loves horror so she wanted to go on the alien ride. My two friends said they were brave and joined her. I was an honest coward and said, "Nope!" and waited outside with the other adult. I could hear the screams from outside the ride. Afterwards one of my friends admitted it was a mistake to go one the ride. My other friend still tried to be tough, but it was obvious they were pretty shaken up. We were all under 10 years old at the time.

I went on Alien Encounter when I was 5, was waaay too small for that ride and came out of it crying. I still remember the Alien hissing and feeling the terror of the Alien being very close and worried that it was going to eat me. I assume parents treated it like the Haunted Mansion, not really expecting it to be so scary, and the ride definitely stood out unnaturally like a sore thumb. I'd expect smn like that at Universal. It's kind of like a bar inside a McDonald's play place, why would smn obviously for adults be in a place specifically designed for kids. Especially when that ride was the only one like that in the entire park. Sure the park is designed for families, but that begs the question -- why tf wouldn't you go on it WITH your family? If anything the ride should have had an age cap of like 9-10, like Legoland has driving school (6-13) and junior driving school (5 and under).

ExtraTERRORestrial Encounter was awesome. I rode it as a kid, about a month after it opened in 95. I remember seeing the preview of it on the vacation planning VHS you used to be able to order from Disney. It was well advertised as being scary, and it was the best part of my day at the magic kingdom. I don't remember if they demolished or replaced the ride after stitch closed, but they should bring it back. Even if it only comes back as part of the mickey halloween party. More people need a chance to experience that masterpiece.

Ooh I didn't think I'd be considered lucky enough to have gone on both the Alien Encounter and Stitch one. I was a sensitive 10 year old when I rode the Alien one, and it was really unsettling. I was already 22 when I rode the Stitch one so I only found it funny, but I found it to be much more kids friendly.

I remember being able to do the alien one when I was very little. Then I remember when they changed it to stitch. I loved this ride and then when I took my wife to Disney specifically for that ride because she loved stitch it was gone. So sad
