Just subscribed because you held the frames up to the camera so carefully. As a city girl, I can frequently get the Queen now, but I have no idea how to spot drones. Will never have bees, but I enjoy careful animal care.

On a hot humid day in the Houston area my bees do the same thing. If you touch the area where they are rocking it is actually wet and they have their tongues out getting the water. As they cool the inside they drop the temp enough to cause condensation on the outside.

I’m down in South America I bought a farm down here, and decided to do some bee keeping. Been learning a lot about bee keeping just watching videos on KZbin. I always was a jump in and learn kinda guy. The bees here are a little more aggressive and sometimes will stay with you a half mile or so from the hive. I get wild swarms and take out hives from the wild hives I come across. Wish I had some Italians but I’m learning on what I have, as I’m just an ole Georgia boy and we just adapt and move forward. Enjoy the videos

Wife and I meet in church, she is Brazilian. So so can legally live here or there. In light of understanding bible prophecy, and I truely do, I figured the mountians here are a better place to be today as the mark of the beast prophecy is about to be fulfilled and most Christians will gladly except it because they really do not understand what it is. Most have been taught it is a computer chip or some type of implant but this is not what the Bible teaches. I get my beliefs straight from scripture.

I guessed they needed a little more room. I had the same issue with a hive a month ago. I added another brood box and I have a new hive now. They ran out of room after 3 weeks. It hasn’t been too hot here in SE Georgia. Bees have been very busy. Making babies and making a load of honey. But they have been “ugly” at times.

They look hot, even with the extra room inside. I know here I like to use screen bottoms and I add two large hole with #8 screen on the edges of the inner cover. I also use a 4" spacer on the top under the cover that has 2.5" holes in the sides that works with a top feeder if I need to feed. This extra venting helps them when it gets hot.

If you don't have queen cells going on they're not getting ready to swarm, it's just the heat. I agree the others>an extra box, 2" spacer & honey box.

Just hanging out. Before I got my bees I used to check out a beekeepers boxes trying to see behaviour. Around 4pm summer they would be hanging outside. Which I figured was cooling it down.

D move those outside frames to the center- checker board them in between the capped brood and they will move in and start drawing comb faster. During warm weather this will always make them more productive you will open a whole new world to them.

Give them a 2nd box with freed. They need space but there is also no nectar coming in or else they would be back filling as the queen lays.
@realjamaicanapiary74614 жыл бұрын
Hi there, next time its better to put foundation frames you want them to draw closer to the middle of the hive and slide the frames already drawn to the outside. This will encourage them. Also, you may checkerboard the frames. This way you'll spread the bees out more and they'll realise they have more space immediately. I have given bees space before and they don't move up to the top box and still swarm
@pigeontoebeekeeping76214 жыл бұрын
Exact same thing going on in my most productive colony. I added a honey super weeks ago .. they are up in that super but not packed and still ALL over the front / bearding. This was last week(s) when it was HOT, cool rain now everyone inside. Hopefully this cool week is build time! I didn't have a honey super frame to move up like you did. Hmm.

My thoughts when first seeing it was----it's hot inside, lots of population---need more room. After watching I just put deeps on two hives with lots of bees. Now they are buzzing around running on the surface acting Strange. So will see if they run off tomorrow I guess. Not sure they wanted more room. But it is what I would do what you and I both did.

My bees were doing this today, im a first yr beekeeper, nuc arrived early June, I’m in scotland and can say with absolute certainty, it ain’t cause their hot! Only 16 degrees C today 🤔 I put an excluder on and gave them a super a couple of wks ago cause I thought they needed more space to work but I’m thinking after watching this I should put another brood box on? Any thoughts? I’m sure I’m making every rookie mistake in the book!

I'll b honest, not sure I'd know for def if they were, they do seem packed, I thought it might b a bit late in the season to put another brood box on, it'd b all new frames, no swarm cells, they are making queen cups but nothing in them, I could put a frame of brood into another nuc that's a bit behind?
