He sang the song after he was told after vocal chord surgery that he either won't be able to sing or sing in the range he was used to. I also believe he once said that he wasn't sure his voice would hold up when singing Rainy blue and that having Taemin on stage helped, but I could be wrong.

I'm always amazed that Rosé is reading the lyrics in the Alicia Keys perfomance... and sounds just fabulous. 2 things and background info about "Sea of Hope". (1) You miss one BIG performance of this "Sea of Hope" series: "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayers. It was her very first performance in this series, in the debut episode. John Mayers gave Rosé as a gift a pink electric guitar in response to this (in addition to posting "Gorgeous" on Instagram). (2) You might want to react (or watch by yourself) a video clip of the individual same performance of "Because I love You", not part of a compilation. Why? Apparently, you didn't catch that Rosé cried towards the end of the song. She did give the reason for this to her audience, but it was cut off this compilation. Note: there are video clips of Rosé singing this song in rehearsal, which are fine, but of course, no explanation for her crying. So, search for the MV of the same public performance by itself. (3) Background info: “Sea of Hope” is a South Korean reality TV series which aired on JTBC from June 29 to September 14, 2021. The cast members, 3 famous actors/actresses and 5 musicians open a bar on the sea side and offer to the customers various food, drinks and musical acts so they can escape their daily lives for a moment. They would have guest singers for a few weeks for the musical acts. Rosé was their very first guest singer. In the video for "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room", except for Rosé, all present are cast members. As always, enjoy your reactions. Have fun!
