FIRST TIME REACTING TO GOT7 | If You Do / You Calling My Name / 'PYTHON' MV | DG REACTS

Jay B (the leader, the one starting "Python") went through the process of acquiring the trademark rights to the group and everything related to them: group name, subunits names, the production of albums, music, lightstick, concerts etc... GOT7 have officially had nothing to do with JYPE since the end of their contract (19th January 2021). They have since released the single "Encore" (one month after leaving JYPE) and the EP "GOT7" with the title track 'NANANA' (May, 2022). They are all under different labels, have solo careers in Korea and abroad (3 of them are from other countries) + 4 Korean members are doing military service (2 have already finished in 2024, 2 are going this year - I think), so of course we fans don't expect music on a regular basis, but so far GOT7 haven't let us down and they keep coming back! 🥰 As a side note, they have been writing and composing their own songs since around 2017 (they used to write some even before, but that's when JYPE really gave them a chance to do everything, even the title tracks). All the members write and compose and they all have very different, distinct styles! I had so much fun listening to this new album and guessing which member wrote which song (I was right on all 9 tracks haha - I unlocked another useless talent 🤣). We gotta thank BamBam for "Python", I love that song!!

Green represents the ahgases (GOT7 fans), this is the official color of the fandom, the songs are normally aimed at the fans, but they can be romantic too. On this album, each of them wrote one of the songs. They are no longer linked to JYP, they managed to leave the company, with a unique feat, taking the group's name, artistic names, music rights, and now they got the official social networks back, they are the group that paved the way for others groups can leave their companies with their rights, they were the fathers of an entire nation. Revolutionaries!

i think the fame metaphor actually makes sense!! they used to goof around in the playground during their trainee days and they're enjoying a lot but the 'python- idol life' drags them away to spotlights where they have constantly perform and be in order

I'm glad you're discovering GO7. i'm a big fan of the third generation (BTS, EXO and GOT7) and i found GOT7 through the solo albums of each member, they are very good I especially love the voices of JayB, Jinyoung and Yugeom. If you do was my first favorite song. Then it was the song TWO that I fell in love with. New song Python is soooo good, I'm so obsessed! 😆But why is it so short?

Their new song is such a banger as expected of Got7, Bambam made this masterpiece he's been through a lot lately as a solo artist and you can tell by his lyrics, the happy images of Got7 are in my opinion his nostalgia of the good old days with Got7, he's talked a lot about him being nostalgic of his youth and rookie days (living in the dorm, training with Got7) !! If you are into darker concepts I highly recommand you to check Not by the moon , Last piece , Never ever and Eclipse. The green is Got7 color ( their lightstick is green ) and they left JYP in 2021, they own the group name and songs right now. It's so funny that you said the begining sounds like a lullaby cause Got7 actually has a hit song called Lullaby, and if you watch carefully the end it seems like Bambam is dragged out of a dream and wakes up in a place with his team members , about to go on stage ( flash lights, crowd cheering).

I don't normally watch reactions but I got recommended your video and decided to watch you for the first time, and I have to compliment your analysis! A lot of other reactors always act so hyped up (that it feels disingenuous at times), but I love how calm yet still very much interested you were. I think you actually chose the best two songs to react to before Python. If You Do shares the theme of a toxic relationship, and You Calling My Name shows the most mature side of theirs - and both of these things play a big role in Python. I was actually so shocked how you're able to catch so many things just on the first listen/watch: you mention vocals, lyrics, visuals, choreo... your If You Do commentary was actually so good! welcome to enjoying got7!, i've been here since their debut/beginning and it's always nice to see someone discover their amazing music and the art that all of them have created and slowly has progressed until today. this album it's such a wonder to us fans who appreciate each one of these 7 guys, because each song was compose and produced by the 7 of them, so it has a unique individuality but also group feel. Also, I love your take on python, i feel the same way, to me it's not about someone specific but about fame and their idol life, how it pulls them in and they can't let it go. that sense of a toxic relationship but then them making music together it's like their playground. like the part where jackson was sliding head on or when he was taking a photo of them all happy. the mv ambience and feel was right on track. And the song produced/composed by bambam was just perfect for a comeback track.

I'm so glad you enjoyed them, Got7 are one of those iconic groups, super talented and well-rounded. Your insights are always fun to watch! Some more classic songs i'd recommend: Just Right, Hard Carry, You Are, Never Ever, A, Last Piece, Nanana. All of the members have great solo careers with a diverse range of sounds! If you get around to the rest of the Winter Heptagon, each track was written by a member , you can really hear some of their individual colours. Or there's the WH highlight medley you could check out instead, which has a bit of each track. Leader JayB also just had a comeback a couple months ago, Cloud Nine and Crash. His stuff (under JayB and Def.) is more k-rnb, and he also wrote for Got7 while they were still under JYP.

FINALLY GOT7! So happy to see these Kings back again. And your GOT7 reaction debut! :D If You Do is still one of my all time favourites from them, even more than 9 years later. One of the best breakup songs in Kpop. I love the sound and style of Python but it's WAY TOO SHORT. Why is there no bridge, no proper outro? This had the potential to be perfect but they missed the final landing there :( Still, Yugyeom got me in a complete chokehold. Lullaby to date is probably my favorite GOT7 MV for sure. I love the colors, the magical feel of it (opposite of what you said earlier 🤣) but I think you'll like the overall aesthetic and message behind it. Look is another one I enjoyed. Loved the choreo in that one as well. More on the darker side, so you might like that one. Teenager: I'm biased because it's my favorite GOT7 song and the song that snatched me into the fandom. 😆 Very simple MV, but the way Jackson SLAYS the hook is just...!! 😍😍 And finally I'd say... Poison. Wasn't an actual MV, more of a performance/dance one... But very smooth, nice song, and worth checking out. 🤗

Winter Heptagons means winter is the season of GOT7 debut (January) and heptagon is about 7 members. Playgrounds in the mv have some meaning, first GOT7 have song for their fans (IGOT7) with title Playgrounds and second when GOT7 in their training time there is a Playgrounds near of their dorm or JYP where GOT7 member like to eat or releases their stress. It's easy to think that the lyrics refer to a lover, but I'm also in the camp of the deeper meaning that it could be a metaphor around the struggles of idol status. The lyrics tied with the music video visuals definitely adds a heavier and more artistic message than what's on the surface and I'm super glad to hear someone else picking up on those cues too.
