I figured that with their recent Coachella performance it was a perfect time to dive into 2NE1, I already knew of Park Bom from my Queendom reactions and I really enjoyed CL from what I've heard so far, and this song was a lot of fun, and after finishing this reaction I tried to see what are some of the hidden meanings and it got pretty deep, kudos to these incredible ladies! You are in for a ride and the foundations of the Kpop now. 2NE1 made it possible for a lot of 3rd gen girl groups and soloists to get a place and recognition even if they are out of the 'beauty cutie standards'. They are the best! More of the 2nd gen groups please!

What a great thread. I got to CL from WOD/Royal Family competition, led me to CL (was my favor korean artist for 5 years), led me to 2ne1, fell in love with Park Bom, now love all 4 equally with a special love for Bom. Follow the lyric and symbolism thread from Goodbye to Bom's Spring to her Wanna go Home Queendom performance. CL wrote Goodbye as a letter to Minzy when she left. YG wouldn't release the song until it was slightly revised as a goodbye to their fans, but it was really for the group personally. The lyric about this being winter but afterwards spring will come; this is where Bom fulfills the promise/reassurance with her song Spring. She is very honest about her pain, finding her confidence and commiting to stand up again, so beautifully vulnerable 💚. In Wanna go Back Bom says when she heard the word goodbye she hid and cried all night. Seeing the live performance for the first time was overwhelming with the imagery and symbols, heartbreaking and vulnerable.

Great observation on the breaking records. FYI - the records they are breaking actually have 2NE1 written on them, so they are essentially breaking their own records with every hits they produce. Also, at the ending, it's a pyramid analogy. There is usually something/someone at the top of the pyramid (in this case, the pyramid probably represents the Kpop system). Them shooting at it and carving 2NE1 on it can mean that instead of trying to be at the top (which can be fleeting), they are shattering that system and carving their own name on it and making their own significant mark in the industry that will last forever, which they certainly did as they are now considered iconic, legendary, and helped propel Kpop to what it is today. They also shattered the Kpop girl group cutesy image and generic styling at that time and introduced the fierce girl crush image and high fashion and unusual styling which subsequent girl groups started copying.

"The world is ours" interperation for the ending sounds correct to me as they certainly tried to break out internationally. They absolutely kill it when they perform live. There is no one quite like 2NE1 when it comes to performance. You should check out their Mama 2015 performance. While you have checked out Park Bom in Queendom and CL in particular, you should also check out Minzy who has her own solo career. My personal favorite song is Ninano. She is the dancer of the group. Hopefully Sandra Park will be able to do some more solo stuff soon, since she was the last one to get out from under YG. YG really did 2ne1 dirty.

There are plenty 2nd generation girl groups that really took k-pop to international stardom...But top 3 definitely are Girls generation, 2NE1 & Wondergirls...But 2ne1 Had something new and fresh to offer, they introduced the girl crush concept...Amongst the cutesy, girlye, feminine, sexy girlgroup concepts that were emerging at that time...2ne1 chose to come strong, empowering with an attitude and feminism all the way...every girlgroup you see today look up to them...their recent reunion had me weeping
@hong49712 жыл бұрын
2ne1 indeed is one of the best kpop legends in history and paved the way for other junior girl groups to perform as strong women. Sad to read some hate comments from the other younger fandoms who dont appreciate this or mock their styles/look and not respecting them as seniors of their fave girl groups. Thanks for your reaction and appreciating 2ne1s reunion. As a blackjack, an OG kpop fan, we are really thankful to CL and the girls for still showing us their love and giving us this performance... Not just in any event but in Coachella.

I always thought the end shows them literally carving out their name (in the industry). But man, you noticed things I started thinking no reactor ever would. I don't think I ever saw anyone else connect their hits breaking records, and I never even connected myself that they are at the centre of the world. I love your videos so much.

I also never noticed the HIT if it weren't for you pausing. It could also be a metaphor for "our HIT smashes all records" as in selling-records. Thank you for reacting to 2ne1. This is the only ever kpop release in all my 12 years of being a kpop fan that I waited up til 3am on release day to watch the MV because I was so excited!! I got into kpop because of 2ne1. I was introduced to them during Go Away era and I've been here ever since 😄 I cried all the way through their coachella performance. So many mixed emotions; happy because they were all together performing, sad because they've been apart so long. The way they were treated and the way the group fell apart was truly a disgrace. I really never thought I'd see them together again, but here they were! It really reminded me that I'm still a blackjack at heart ♠️♠️ 놀자!

Can’t believe this song is from 2011. I don’t really follow female groups, although I recently discovered Mamamoo and I’m following their music now. Based on this song it’s the type of female group I would follow. They give me a Jessi vibe, which I love. From what I hear the group disbanded a while ago (correct me if I’m wrong) but I will be checking out their solo works.

Mamamoo is a very big fan of 2ne1 (their seniors) that is why they follow footsteps of 2ne1. 2ne1 was forcefully disbanded by their agency 7 years ago (the group learned their disbandment thru media and was not informed personally). It is a messy disbandment in the height of their career which left the fans and kpop industry shocked.
@Paper-Heart2 жыл бұрын
@@hong4971 That’s horrible to hear how their disbandment happened. If they were still an active group I would probably be following them. I guess I will just have to enjoy what they’ve done in the past and any solo works the members may be doing now.

Interestingly, the Standard Poodle haircut that is now associated with "fancy" or "glamorous" was originally for practical reasons. The poodle is a water hunting/retrieving breed and their fur would be shaved or trimmed down to make it faster in water but fur would be left to keep important body parts warm (chest/heart/lungs, joints, tail tip, head, ears). There's hundreds of years of history and development behind it (and the breed). Anyway, enough with that semi-random info. As others have said, they're smashing their own records, which is what they did: make and break their own records in Kpop.

Wasn't expecting this one! Love that you're diving in. The aesthetics and musical vibes of Lonely and It Hurts and Come Back Home are definitely up your lane. I'm sure you'd love most of their tracks tbh. Most people don't see the little metaphors but of course you did haha 🖤🖤 As far as the triangle thing it's more in the idea of breaking down the barriers. They were a girl group that broke a lot of records and global recognition as well as being a group that challenged koreas long standing "cute/pretty" girl group concepts. They were called "ugly" willingly, as a badge of honor essentially because none of them fit the Korean beauty standards at the time for idols.

Thanks for your reaction. I loved it ❤ This is all my interpretation, but in the end, the blinded women play an old instrument I don't remember the name. It was an instrument played by kisaeng. But in this mv, the instrument is mordernized. I think it's for symbolize the weight of tradition. All the environment is modern, even futuristic, but women are blinded and don't see that they perpetrate tradition. And you can see at the beginning of this set, some movement traditional in their choreography. I don't know for the triangle, but in my opinion, they break it for being free from the weight of this tradition, but also to open a new path for younger generation to break free, as you can see at the end, there is no longer blinded women. Like I said, that's only my interpretation, as a woman, it's how I feel it, even if I don't know why a triangle. I hope my english is not too bad.
